Looks like they'll be the Washington Nationals. I was a fan of the Washington Senators idea, personally, until I realized that the article is right- DC has no representatives in the Senate. http://msn.foxsports.com/story/3178424
From what I have heard, they are not going to keep it forever. They are planning on changing the name again once they get into the new stadium, unless Nationals is a huge hit. Apparently they tried to choose a name that was sort of bland so people don't get too attached to it.
A little "Colt .45's" action, huh? Seriously, if the plan is to change it again in 3-4 years, they should've just kept the Expos name, and changed the colors.
I guess they are just trying to fool the fans into thinking they have all the guys on the all-star team with "NATIONAL" on their jersey.
I think they should have had something that represents DC a little better. The Washington Transvestite Prostitutes or Crooked Politicians come to mind. And the logos would have kicked ass.
Could of been better, but I'll take it. Can't wait until the Stros come to town for the first time. I think they should have played on the flag some more for the logo. The current logo is way too traditional. Hopefully a name change and logo change in two years would be nice. But they should have just done it now to help kick the team off. It will be weird to switch names after two years if indeed that is the plan. We currently have the champion DC united and will be happy to add the National League runner up to the Astros this year.
I kind of liked "DC Presidents." Then I realized that some MLB player would be giving an interview and say something like "we're going to kill the Presidents tonight" and the secret service would show up and cart him off.
Oh my... Replacing my beloved classic Expos logo with that bland monstrosity.... What the heck? Phi, I expect better of you. This thread is doubly depressing.
I kind of like the W on the hats...kind of retro look that everyone is trying to do these.days..... I wonder how the uniforms going to look like.
Will the NATIONALS play in the AMERICAN? I know, I know... FRIGGIN' interleague play will be so g*dd*mn confusing now... "Nationals playing the National league..." <- this will sound SO corny
The cap look pretty good. I'm always in favor of something simple and bold. Sort of like the Texans' logo. Their logo looks more like a league logo more than a actual team logo.
