I never thought I would wish for the days of all New York, all the time radio with Mike and Mike, but Davies and Dukes are an embarrasment. Do these guys even watch the games? This morning all they could talk about was how T-MAC needed to go to the hole more.

T-MAC must have tried to go to the hole 60% of the time yesterday. What these morons can't seem to understand is that, unless you are incredibly quick and deceptive, you have to set up drives to the hole with an outside game. When Traci starts hitting his shots, he will be more and more effective at driving to the hoop. I'm no T-MAC apologist. I advocated trading him in the pre-season and he irritates me with bad shots at times, but jeez at least watch the friggin' games before making up your mind.

I know this is a Rocket's forum, but they do the same with Carr. The day after the New York game, the whole conversation was about how Carr didn't lead them to victory. Again, did they watch the game? Carr can't make people not fumble or catch dink passes with a wide open field in front of you. Watch the game, a..holes and then talk about what happened, not preach about your pre-conceived ideas.

I do think T-Mac has made a concentrated effort to attack the rim, to say that he needs his outside shot to set up his driving is absurd. If T-Mac is hitting the outside shots, he isn't going to drive. The whole purpose of his driving right now is because he has no confidence in his outside shot.

Uh.. if you are capable of hitting outside shots and going to the rim, then your best game plan is to mix up both of them. That way, the defender is never sure what to do - guard you close to crowd the jumper or give room to get in the way of your drive. If you only do one of them, the defender will have an easy task of guarding you. I thought everyone knew this..?

How will you get past somebody if they are giving you space to shoot? The easiest way to get past somebody is when they are guarding you up close

Check the 82games.com stats. The fact of the matter is that Tracy is becoming a jumpshooter exclusively. If his outside shot is falling, he isn't going to drive. He's not going to set up his drives, he's going to elevate (back permitting) and still take jumpshots.

EDIT: I applaud him for attacking the rim aggressively the last couple games, but the simple truth is that were his outside shot falling, he wouldn't be attacking the way he is. The sad part about it is that even when he's attacking the basket, his percentages suck and he's not hitting his freethrows.

In all fairness, last night Tracy was 6-11 on 2-pointers and 7-9 from the line. Not mind-blowing, but at least he is getting better.

Okay, not to pile on, but can anyone else not stand how frequently and annoyingly Brad Davies insists on saying "OOOWwwwbviously" on this show?

First of all, if it's so obvious, why are you saying it over and over? Second of all, there's no need to draw the word out that long.

Any idea why they picked this guy other than the Syracuse thing?

They have to be losing tons of ratings since they dropped mike and mike for these guys. Good news for Jon and Lance.

    These guys are the worst.

I don't know why they hired Davies in the first place. They could have hired someone from 610 rather than that idiot.

Between them and John Granado, the morning crews are full of idiots.

They must say this stuff before 7, because other than the sports flash, I cant remeber the last time I even heard 610 OR 790 talk about the Rockets for longer than 30 seconds...

rockets won't get love until they are in the playoffs. simple as that. football and baseball are too important (though I believe basketball and soccer, the sports of which this city actually has talent, are FAR more deserving of attention). that's always the way it will be. americans just like those sports better. and it's too bad, cause in my book soccer and basketball are just better sports.

yup I'm a fan of the global games: football (the one where the foot is used all the time) and basketball ... the Rockets and the Arsenal.

I reallllly wish I knew more about soccer because I love the sport... there's just so much information and it's been difficult for me to really get into it. nba was easy cause it was all in english. I'm a huge fan of mexico though, being half mexican. I can't believe we lost to argentina! anywho I don't understand why baseball is so popular. it's really boring. I can barely sit through one inning. though I guess playoffs aren't bad.

tmac is trying to take it to the rim. i've noticed a nice effort over the past 2 games.

once his jumper starts falling it will be easier to drive.

I don't think Davies and Dukes are that bad. They're definitely different than the 610 morning crew and a nice change of pace. I think they know their sports as much as the next guy. Just because they continue to think T-Mac may nto be taking it to the hole enough (especially after the Hornets game...after last night, more questionable), or that despite not being the guy who fumbled himself, Carr still needs to do more as a quarterback - both opinions - doesn't mean they suck.

Some of their takes are not bad, but at other times, yes — you wonder if they are watching the same game you are.

I will never forget the moment that shaped my view of Cark Dukes forever. I went to an Astros game a few years back when the starter was pulled (injury) and Tim Redding got his first start. At the time, Redding was hyped to be up there with Roy O, maybe even a bit ahead. It was a competent first start, but by no means spectacular (the guy had a decent fastball but not much else). After the game, I turned on 740 to hear the recap and there was Dukes. In commenting on Redding, his EXACT words were "I HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE!"
I was wondering who Carl was watching pitch that day.

    Carl Dukes = Mr. Hyperbole

Here's an email I got from Davies after I wrote him asking about love for the Rockets. I'm doing as he suggested and am spreading the word:

    Hey dude.
You'll never find bigger NBA guys than us. I'm actually very surprised
at the lack of buzz on the airwaves when it comes to the Rockets. Every
time we bring them up, we get a few calls but there doesn't seem to be
passion. Bring up college football and the lines go insane! Moral to
the story ... have your guys call and talk Rockets! Spread the word!

    Thanks!

    Brad
