It looks to me like age is catching up with David Wesley this year.

I hate to say it because he is such a good guy, but he is really hurting this team right now. His inability to hit an outside shot is one thing, but what I have noticed even more is how his defense has taken an extreme nosedive this season. He is routinely being eaten alive by the other guards in the league and he's not able to answer with much offense on the other end in return.

I wonder if he might be better off at this stage of his career coming in off of the bench? I don't believe that it's a lack of effort, but he just doesn't seem to have what it takes to play starter minutes anymore. I hate to point fingers because there are a lot of things wrong with the Rockets right now, but in my mind one of the biggest concerns has got to be David. I think it's time for him to sit.

    Just had to vent...

i agree with you....wesley gets burn by every pg out there....and the game against the warriors he couldnt hit a shot to save his life and lets not forget that technical foul he missed in the 4th qtr that would of been the difference with us having a tied game at the end...

hindsight is always 20/20.. yeah it sucks but theres no way u can blame the entire loss on one missed free throw

Dwes has continued to play the minutes because of all the injuries. As Rafer/Lucas/DA/Barry come back and get into game shape I expect Wes's minutes to fall and he will become a 20 minute man sharing time with Luther, DA and Barry, and with rafer/lucas hopefully running the point. I hope....what a season!

Your vent is valid. Wesley was our weakest starter last year and his play has declined this year. He gives max effort but his tank is almost on E. When our other two SGs come off the injured list, Wesley's minutes will go down and his effectiveness while on the floor will go up.

I will be surprised if Wesley is on this team after the Trading Deadline. His expiring contract needs to be moved.

How long does his contract last?

Wesley is being forced to play way too many minutes...he's still capable of being a solid contributor but he needs to play 15-20 minutes off the bench opposed to the 30-35 minutes he's seeing right now...I still think he's a solid 3-point shooter (arguably our best) and he's a smart and heady defender...

I agree. In Wesley's defense, he's playing out of position and he is forced to play WAY to many minutes due to injuries. He's a guy that ideally you want coming off the bench for 15-20 solid minutes. If you see most of his shots are short. Man I feel for the guy becuase he plays extremely hard.

Someone on this board has said that Wesley is one of the most underappreciated Rockets. I agree. I think he has done his best and has contributed to the team in the midst of so many injuries. He is no star and he is getting old. I also noticed that his lateral speed has declined significantly.

Give the guy a break. He is forced to give more than he has. And he is doing a decent job.

Went to the game because my bank is an affiliate with the team and every time Jason Richardson or Baron Davis Iso'ed David Wesley it was an easy 2 points. He would try and play help defense but he is to slow to come back to his own man and get nailed with a 3. He is a good guy and on some nights he can perform but when you are brought into a team when they just ask you to play solid defense and knock down open jumpers. I say time to move him and get someone that can at least do half of those responsibilities.
