Not sure whats going on with David Wesley but I heard Worrell say that he would probably be out for the season with broken ribs. He gets a lot of criticism but he is a pretty big part of this team and if he is out for the rest of the season we have no chance of making the playoffs. This is his FA year, do you think we should bring him back or let him hook up with some other team.
last year, after he came houston, his 3 shot is very sharp. look at this season. I don't know the reason, maybe is jvg maybe is himself. but anyway if he can not shot like before, he really can not help team. We need one who can hit open 3s most time. last season he>JJ, this season he<jj.
So does Wes have "bruised" ribs or "broken" ribs? That would determine whether he's out for a week or two or the rest of the year.
there is no one better available in free agency this summer. that's the sad part. we need to bring him back.
Wesley started out in a shooting slump after his surgery in the offseason. Lately, he had been shooting around 40% from 3. He plays good defense, too, he's just a little short to guard bigger 2 guards. I'd love to sign him next season, hopefully as a backup to someone up and coming... Wesley is no scrubb.
Two major things go into play with perimeter shooting: -open looks -health When you have a McGrady or Yao sucking in double teams, you free up shooters to get easy looks. Without them, Wesley struggles to get his shot off comfortably as he doesn't have exceptional quickness or height. When a shooter has a nagging leg injury (ankle, knee, etc) or is rehabbing from a surgery (like Wesley was), his lift isn't the same and the jumpers naturally come up short, causing the shooter to have to relearn their mechanics all over (hell on earth, and extremelly frustrating). Wesley finally started getting those two things together, and got taken out again with the ribs. Pretty crappy. Evan
Wesley started the season poorly as he was rehabbing from surgery. He played extremely well after that, shooting well above 40% from 3pt land. In the last few weeks, he's been playing with another leg injury, which is the reason for his poor performance lately. He is too old and too short to play starter minutes, but with good health and limited minutes off the bench, he can still be a valuable contributor off the bench. If he's willing to resign a short term contract for not much more than the vet minimum, then we should bring him back for next season.
Remember how an ESPN article said that we got offers for him but turned all of them down? Maybe we are best off with a good draft pick. I mean all the excuses are there so we cant lose that much respect.
