I just thought everyone might appreciate a little FYI on David Stern. .. I go to Columbia University in New York. NBA commissioner David Stern is the Chair of the Board of Trustees here. Some friends of mine who also go to Columbia happened to see David Stern after he had just finished working out in mid-town. They said to him "Hi. We are students at Columbia....etc " and the guy just turns around and walks away! Not a word or anything. MAYBE we could overlook something like this if it was some huge stalker fan or something, but obviously, stern has none of those. I thought that he might appreciate the recognition. After all, they didn't interrogate him about the league or anything, they go to the school where he heads the board! Anways.... just wanted to let you know the man in charge doesn't seem to be such a great guy. Michael
I never did like the guy. In interviews he is the master of double-speak (i.e., two-faced liar) and can get real surly if you don't stick to his script.
What about that amazing speech he gave after the Rookie game, where he told Jason Richardson to get some sleep for the slam dunk contest the next day, whne it was later that night, then when the reporter caught him on it he said some more dumb stuff. That was hilarious.
I didn't know he headed a university board as well. Well if Stern did do that it was a dumbass move on his part. You run the NBA and you think you are the king of the world.
Actually, when I was at the allstar game this weekend, Mark Cuban happened to be sitting right behind me (or actually his box was about 10 rows behind me and up) and he made a really good impression on me. I haven't always been a fan of him, but he was cheering so genuinely and loudly for all the players, especially dirk and steve (all positive stuff). I don't know i just really liked that.....i kinda warmed my heart Michael
