After Hilton's new spokesman, Dan Klores, killed the interview in a bid to lower her profile after the sex-tape scandal, Letterman ripped Klores, whom he didn't name, on Tuesday's show. "The reason she canceled, she hired a publicist, this no-good, beady-eyed, weasel thug putz, publicist got ahold of her and forced her to cancel her appearance," Letterman raged. "I'm telling you, this guy is really lower than pond scum. This guy is, you know live bait? This guy is dead bait. You couldn't be oilier than this guy." Klores - a spin biz veteran whose stable includes P. Diddy, Howard Stern, and, coincidentally, Letterman's nemesis Jay Leno - recently passed on repping the world's most scandalized star, Michael Jackson. On Nov. 19, the day before Jacko was arrested for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old boy, Klores got a call to represent the Cuffed One. Klores told Entertainment Weekly he declined because he didn't want to spend "15 hours a day" on damage control, adding, "It's essentially hopeless."
