OK...help me out with this. I think most of us are agreed that DC will likely be elsewhere next season.

But how does that work, given last year's extension? Do the Texans take a salary cap hit for letting a player go like that? What happens?

Yes, we owe him all of this years salary and that 8 million dollar bonus but nothing more. We will take a cap hit next year for cutting him (his 07 figure) but the Texans do not have too many cap problems as of this offseason when all of the cap hits from the CC era come off, ie. the players Kubs cut when he got here.

Can we trade him for a backup punter?

    Nobody is Trading David Carr.

He isn't a special player, but he is a solid dependebale quarterback. If not for Vince Youngs Heroics at the end of overtime, we'd all be sitting her talking about how he drove the Texans for the game tying field goal.

I think as of now, David Carr is re gaining his confidence. Come on, everyone talked about him losing his confidence last year.

Kubiac is intentionally calling short passes. And those short passess will lead to long passes in the future.

In Kubiac's system the passing game is basically dependent on the Running game. If there is no running game, then there is little passing.

Carr had a solid game. Never stellar with him, but it was solid.

Carr had his chance to win the game from the 38yrd line but instead only settle for a game tieing FG! Did ANY OF US felt he would come thru with a TD on that DRIVE ... HELL NO!

Carr plays "not to lose" unlike VY or other good QB who has "it" in them to lead the teams to WINS!

When VY had the ball in OT! WE ALL KNEW IT WAS "GAMEOVER!" when Carr had the ball for a winning drive it was "PLEASE DONT MAKE A MISTAKE, ATLEAST A FG!"

    difference between "GREAT" and "BACKUP!"

Nobody wins football games leading their team to game-tying FGs.

no question. kubiak ran that ball on 3rd and 9, settling for the FG because he has zero faith in DC. he showed that last week against Oakland, as well.

again..i'd be shocked if DC were back.

Really? So all it takes is one game and everything is perfect and he's building confidence blah blah blah? Have you already forgotten last week, where he threw for 30 yards and his coach said they were only going to run the ball because he was hurting the team?

In that case, cut the entire DEFENSE that gave up that touchdown to Vince Young.

True. However, if we had a QB who could lead a game-winning drive, VY wouldn't have danced his way into the end zone because he wouldn't have had a chance.

If David Carr is the starter next season they better start off winning their first game AND at least 3 of their first 4.

30,000 fans isn't going to look pretty in Reliant and we hate blackouts on Sunday.

Serious if they can trade Carr and they don't they will have proven that this train wreck will last another 2-3 yrs minimum.

The Texans have had the Permanent Seat Licenses sold for the last four years and as a result we have had sellouts. No game has been blacked out in Houston ever. Win or not, the game will always be televised locally.

Do Psl's count towards the blackouts. I thought it was actual tickets sold, not psls

The Texans getting rid of pretty boy?! HA!

Sorry, MadMax, you better start making those Rockets playoff game and Astros opening day plans, because you'll be waiting a LONG time if you expect the Texans to get rid of Carr.

How is Carr, Dependable. Obviosly Kubiak doesnt depend on him to win the game because he feels safer with kris brown kicking a field goal that DC throwing.
I dont see any signs that indicate his confidence has gone up. He still makes rookie mistakes, holds on to the ball to long, and takes sacks when they are not needed. He isnt making game changing throws or impacting the game, thats what you expect out of a #1 pick. Of course all Texans #1 overall picks seem to have no impact lately (Mario).
I wouldnt call 140 yds passing and O touchdowns a solid game. i would call it not even a mediocre game.
DC has to be moved. He is useless on this team because he never impacts the game positively and he cannot rise to the occasion. I've been hearing Tampa Bay fans would be happy to have him. Hopefully we can deal him for a 4-5 round pick
