http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-notebook061705&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Speaking of Winslow Jr., Houston Texans quarterback David Carr took a little jab when he was asked what his plans were for the remaining weeks of the offseason. Speaking through the team's Web site, Carr said he planned "To go base jumping and sky diving, surfing and riding some motorcycles – then I'll be ready for training camp." Somewhere, Kellen Winslow Sr. and Jim Brown are surely preparing Winslow Jr.'s rebuttal.
Of course they will be preparing Jr's rebuttal. They will try to pass off what David said as racist and demoralizing to the black man's struggle. They won't see it for what it is, a shot at Jr's character and demeanor.
Do you remember that "celebration" Carr and McKinney did after after a TD a week after that Joe Horn phone celebration?
I thought it was classless. I love Carr to death, but to me, that was just as bad as what Joe Horn did.
Honestly, had we been playing them when that happened (either when Horn did it or when Carr did it), I wouldn't have had a problem with it. It just struck me as classless to make a scene about it when you weren't even remotely involved with the incident. If the main beef was that Horn was trying to show up the other team, what were Carr and McKinney doing?? They were trying to show up another player using a gimmicky celebration to somehow try to prove that they were better than him.
The cell phone thing was pretty silly. My problem with the cell phone celebrations, the sharpie, etc. is that these guys actually sat down and planned them.
Yeah, that's why I liked it so much. And it wasn't so much using a gimmicky celebration as mocking a gimmicky celebration.
