http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4656573.html Officially out: Carr released by Texans By JOHN MCCLAIN After weeks of trying to get a draft choice for quarterback David Carr, the Texans have decided to release the five-year veteran, making him an unrestricted free agent who can sign with any team in the league. The Texans also are releasing running back Domanick Williams (formerly Davis), their former leading rusher who has been unable to play because of a knee injury. An announcement is expected later today.
wow, guess nobody wants that contract. I imagine this was partly a favor to him so he could choose what he wants to do. Seems if we really held out we would have got at least something. Plus the friday afternoon timing. Time to move on
I don't understand why it surprises people. he had no value and a big contract. People hoping he could somehow be used to move up in the draft or recoup a second round pick were delusional.
they tried to trade him. they got nothing back. they decided to go another way. no way they were gonna trade DC BEFORE they had the QB to replace him. someone will pick him up. mcclain said on 610, he thinks it will be Minnesota, despite what their GM said on the radio yesterday negatively about Carr.
pure genius, let's release a quarterback that at the very least, is worth a seventh round draft pick and just be left holding the bag Casserly???
he has value...but not enough to offset that price. he's not worth his contract extension. that's it. not in the eyes of the Texans or anyone else, apparently.
trade him to who?? who is gonna give up anything for him at that price? clearly the answer is no one. that's what we've learned here.
When I say value, I am lumping in his contract, his talent, and the Texans bargaining position into one catch all term. He's a backup QB with a big contract on a team that HAD to get him off their roster. That equates to ZERO trade value.
not really surprised. sucks about DD, of DW. oh well. its a new day and im actually looking forward to this year...if nothing else it will be new

All the other teams knew they could just wait us out and get him on the cheap after we cut him. The Texans were in a no-win situation. Oh well, the Carr fiasco aside, I am truly looking forward to the upcoming season and expect to see a marked improvement on the field and in the standings. Go Texans.
