If we could aquire him we might not need to go after a reciever in the draft and instead we could use our picks for much needed linemen.
Don't forget though that Arizona will likely tag him as their Franchise player meaning that David Boston would cost the Texans two 1st round picks. Boston is damn good but I don't think he's worth two 1st rounders. Especially where will be at least two guys available in the draft (Rogers & Johnson) that have potential to be just as good if not better than David Boston. If he's not tagged as the Franchise player though Houston should do whatever it takes to get him.
BanginScrew has a point there. Boston is one of the top wideouts in the league but I wouldn't give up 2 1st rounders for him. If we can get him without giving up picks Im all for it. Then once we have Boston we can draft McGahee (if he comes out) with our top pick because our running backs have to be the worst in the league along with our line.
David Boston? Seeing him catch a pass from David Carr is like my wet dream! I would love to see that guy in a Texans uni (I saw him dominate my HS alma-mater when he was in Humble... as a DB). He isn't worth 2 first round picks, but if he wasn't franchised and we could pick up the one stud offensive lineman in the draft (from Utah?), Boselli got healthy, and either Jon Wells broke out or we could draft a decent in the 2nd (Onterrio Smith?).... well I think I just described Charley Casserly's wet dream!
they'd prefer to do just the opposite; sign free agent OL, draft playmakers. the texans don't want another year of rookie linemen learning on the job while putting david carr's health at risk. re: boston, let's not forget boston was hurt this year, severely. therefore, not only is he not worth picks of any kind, he may not even be worth pursuing. the texans, i'm sure, are still licking their wounds from drafting boselli. not exactly. his wet dream begins, and probably ends, with boselli and young getting clean bills of health for 2003. that right there solves a multitude of problems and doesn't require any roster movement except resigning young, who's a restricted FA. and everyone needs to realize the defense needs help, too, and at #3, which is where they'll likely be picking, the best, non-QB on the board is probably going to be jimmy kennedy.
Boselli and Young getting healthy, adding a veteran lineman (or two), and drafting defense would be GREAT too. Remember folks our defense pretty much won all four of our games single handedly.... adding a young playmaker to such a squad and getting a healthy offensive line would probably net us 8 wins and that kind of progress is good enough for me!
Most of the mock drafts I have seen have the Texans taking Kennedy. Offensive playmakers are great but don't forget ... Defense win Championships .... and getting a stud DT is the best way to make your defense tough. The Texans already have two Pro Bowlers on defense, if they draft Kennedy they will be adding another one. Also with an improved D-Line it would make the rest of the defense that much better. Also with a great defense the offense wouldn't have to score many points to be in every game.
i don't know about 8 wins; that's asking alot from a second year expansion team. and they'll be adding two veterans to the OL: pitts and weary, who will be one year better than they've been this year. pitts, especially, is going to be great. hopefully, he and boselli will get the chance to team up next year. pitts has been nothing short of unbelievable this year at LT.
any mock draft done at this stage is bogus and useless. the underclassmen haven't even made their decisions yet.
