Thought you guys might be interested in this. In case you didn't see it, this is what David Aldridge said of Webber during his online chat session: Q: "What are your thoughts on C-Web comments about how he has lived in NY the past two summers? Is that insight as to where he might be headed? " A: "The tabs had fun with that one, didn't they? I don't think that's any more insight on where he'll be than the fact that he likes Michael Jordan or thinks Houston is a cool town. (By the way, there's a preposterous story coming out of Philly that CWebb will go to D.C. next year for the $4.5 million exception. Um, no, he won't.)" BTW, he also mentioned that he didn't think MJ would return, in his opinion. ------------------
Come on guys, this is my first topic post and you are ignoring it. I'm hurt. ------------------ When you go into court you are putting your fate into the hands of twelve people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.
Were they good? ------------------ When you go into court you are putting your fate into the hands of twelve people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.
I think it's interesting that Oeilpere doesn't feel we have much of a shot at Webber. You know, we can make a case for the Rockets being in the race in terms of cap room, but I don't think we can claim any special advantage in terms of Webber's personal preference. Webber's been saying all kinds of nice things about a lot of franchises. I don't really see any reason to think Webber prefers Houston over any other team. Yeah, we've got a nice backcourt. But that could mean diddly-squat for all we know. And we're not a title-contender. We're more than one Webber away from a championship, although I admit that would bring us really close. I think if we were solid at every position but PF and slugging it out at least with Dallas and Portland right now, it would be a different story. But we're not. I'll be ecstatic if we land Webber. And I do think there's a chance. But I'm reigning in my optimism, and actually, I think we'll still have a pretty good team if we retain Mo and most of who we have. ------------------
i'm not sure popeye has said we didn't have much of a shot. I don't remember reading that. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
Husband?!? What's all this one in a million talk? ------------------ When you go into court you are putting your fate into the hands of twelve people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.
Achebe--how long are you going to keep throwing that Dumb and Dumber quote out there? Has anyone bitten on that one yet? LOL.
DD, this is a cut-throat business; posters can smell weakness and they'll never throw their posts around. You have to earn every post you get. You might, however, get someone to tell you this is in the wrong forum. It's one of those gray areas where you're not sure if its about Houston or not. Isn't it mostly about Sac and NY? All that said, I didn't understand what all the hoopla was about Webber living in NY for the summer. For one, I'm surprised it's news; I'd think some New Yorkers at least would already know. Secondly, we all already know that Webber would like to play for NY. His desire is not what's an issue; it's the salary cap and what compromises NY and Webber would have to make to get him there and if it's worth it. Imo, it's not. That's why he'll be in Houston or in Sac. I was shocked an appalled that I read something from David Aldridge that sounded down-to-earth. I also thought it was funny that he mentioned the tabloids in the 3rd person, as if he was in a different niche of the market. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
Pere posted in his thread that Houston is third or fourth on Webber's list. I don't know which teams are ahead of us, or how he seems to know this. I respect his opinion but wonder how he can possibly know this. Sure, Webber may want to play in New York, but he can't. Detroit? Doubt it. Orlando? Can't happen. Phoenix? Maybe. I don't see Houston as third or fourth on the list. Not at all. The best thing Webber can do is say nothing about his real destination anyway. But I don't want to get my hopes too high and know CD and Rudy will put together a solid team with the off-season $$$ and picks. ------------------
Well you shouldn't post negative things like that Webber is coming to Houston ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
I think if Tracy Murray is fair game for this forum, then CWebb speculation certainly is. If not, there are plenty of misplaced threads here. Oh, and I think you would have gotten more replies if you had included the term "whiny b****" somewhere. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
Well, Aldridge did mention Houston, so it can't be all that bad. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
I got your back Achebe. Keep posting those Dumb and Dumber quotes. ------------------ There are no stupid questions, only stupid people who ask questions.
