Just watched some training camp footage. Didn't see him play college ball at all. Does it seem like he just floats balls? I didn't see him zip one pass not even slants or outs. Does he really have a strong arm, or can he just loft it really far?
Yeah, they say his arm strength is Brett Favre-like. You remember Brett don't you Nomar? Anyway, I just read an article on ESPN.com that talked about his amazing strength and how the receivers have to use more than their hands to catch the ball.
I have read many reports saying that sometimes he throws it too hard for the receivers. They are forced to also use their bodies instead of just their hands.
Yeah I remember Brett. Haha. I was just curious. I was going on limited information of actually seeing him not just reading about other people seeing him.
I saw a real short snippet as well, and it seemed to me that he was more concerned with being deliberate in making sure his footwork and delivery were correct. It didn't seem like he was really trying to zip the ball to the recievers. In the real game footage I've seen of him, he throws the ball many times harder than the practice footage I saw.
The only knock on Carr's throwing, is that he had a sidearm-type of delivery. I don't think it's really THAT big of a deal, but it was something that was dwelled on around the draft.
According to many reports I have read about Carr and training camp, his delivery problem was fixed in around 5 minutes. The whole thing was blown way out of proportion by overanxious "analysts." Concerning Carr's lofting of throws versus firing lasers, I read something on ESPN by some guy who said he was concerned that Carr kind of hung his passes out there for his receivers in the middle, and that his receivers were going to get beat up if he continued to do that. But if Carr's arm strength is what people say it is, I am sure he can fix that as well.
i'm not sure anyone should be concerned with anything on day 2; sheesh... why is ESPN still trying to blow holes in david carr's game? the guy has a cannon on his shoulder and the ability to throw any pass, short, long, whatever, that palmer wants him to.
