It probably is not an easy task. But I just wonder if someone can pull out the stats on a coach (say JVG) calling timeouts. Basically, TOs can be divided into active TO (called by the coach) and passive TO (called by the opposing coach). Points gained vs. allowed 2 min before the TO Points gained vs. allowed 2 min after the TO (we may need to skip the TO in the last 2 min since it is hard to do stat on these as they are too often). My feeling (obvious biased) JVG's stat on this will look bad.
This would take some doing with the stats that are available online. The only way I can think of doing that is to pull the data out of the game-flow stats like: http://www.nba.com/games/20060320/LACHOU/playbyplay.html It would be pretty manual to have to go through extracting the data game by game and then parsing it to do pull what you want out of it. Someone who can code quickly could probably do it so that it was less manual. It would be a mini-project to say the least.
is this worth the trouble? even if we prove something, what we gonna do...send it to jvg and say call timeout here?
Yeah, his timeout calling is why we lose games. Has nothing to do with all of our players consistently missing wide open shots
Another fire JVG thread? *yawn* Man are you guys reaching. Y'all should go become Knicks fans or something.
