He created this mess by forking out that much to a declining former superstar who now would be lucky to make all star game that put this team in the LT hell that they can’t afford anymore help Harden could be averaging a 100 he ain’t the same as last season cause the brotha can’t win a game by himself
Getting rid of Morey isn’t going to solve the problem because we are still left with MDA, Harden, and Paul who neither one are real leaders and all three are career losers. We will still have the same game play and lack of effort and leadership with those three. The Rockets need to keep their GM but start from scratch with everyone else.
...So it's Morey's fault we shot 22% from 3 tonight? That we had 23 turnovers? If you are lining up to go down a path we would somehow be the same team we had last year with Anderson, Ariza and Moute you should know Ariza is at career lows across the board over the last 6 games, Anderson and Moute aren't playing at all.
Made some terrible moves but he still is one of the best GMs in the league. Still does seem strange that a guy that's known to analyze data and utilize analytics thought it would be good to open the bank for an aging point guard and also sign inefficient players like Melo and MCW. The CP3 move I don't blame his as much more as most would've done the same.
It’s not getting good enough players to replace them killed it which again comes back to that horrendous cp contract which is the issue
Certainly, Tilman will put blame on Morey for choosing the "wrong" minimum signings. The truth is, minimum signings were never going to be enough, regardless of the GM's choices. This team was the oldest in the league. It was going to get worse even if you retained 100% of the rotation. We didn't even do THAT.
Everyone keeps bringing up the CP3 contract but like.... rockets didn’t have much of a choice. Even if they didn’t resign him they’d be operating over the cap this season and next lol. After last season you had to give him a good contract. Any team would’ve done the same thing had they won 65 games and a game away from the finals.... the only difference is they’d probably not sign MCW, Melo, etc.
Arguable. But even the best GM can't work with old players, a saturated trade market, Tilman's swinging moods of paying the tax or not paying the tax, and so on. The best GM does not play games and he got us useless players this offseason.
You may not like Daryl Morey, and I agree he's made some blunders, but he's still better than the majority of GMs in this league.
Morey doesn't care at all. He even mocked himself on a recent ESPN podcast. Everyone in the room knows he can easily get a job elsewhere in the league so he has all the leverage.
