JJ Redick! It's the off-season, so let us throw the starting unit possibilities (and wishes) out the window. Let's talk about our second unit. First off let's assume that we start next year with this as the first five we have in mind. 1. Aaron Brooks 2. Kevin Martin 3. Trevor Ariza/Shane Battier 4. Luis Scola 5. Yao Ming After watching the Suns second unit, I got really excited about the possibilities of the Rocket's reserves. RUN & GUN! 1. Kyle Lowry 2. J.J. Reddick 3. Chase Budinger 4. Jordan Hill 5. Chuck Hayes Just thinking about this makes me want to jump on NBA 2K10! And this is WITHOUT our draft pick or any potential moves that DM could make. JJ is a restricted FA this year, but Orlando has some contracts that I think they really regret giving (Bass, Gortat, Pietrus, Rashard), I think JJ is very plausible. Anyone that watched that series could see that JJ is a better player than Vince at this point, I don't think that is much of a stretch. He has turned himself into an excellent defender, He is one of the best shooters in the league, and his Assist to Turnover resembles a prime Shane Battier. He even made some plays for his teammates that JVG was raving about during his broadcast. Not only that, but he is a COMPLETE gym rat, and a great teammate. An article just came out with him saying he could not care less about starting, he wants to win. Beautiful... Watch JJ and CBud supplant KMart and Trevor as the starters! I don't know, I just think he fits in beautifully no matter what we plan to do. Another high IQ guy for the princeton, and another shooter for Yao, and a quicker SG for defense. His PER-36 is remarkable. 16-3-3 with 1 turnover per 36...With great percentages and solid defense... MLE? Yes please... (I think one of Shane or Trevor will be gone this season, which leaves JJ and Chase for the reserve wings...)
I don't think he will use it this year, and as much as I like Redick, I think he is redundant with Chase & Martin already on the squad. I would rather him use whatever monies he has to get us a big that can block shots and maybe develop in case Yao can't make it back. Nice idea though.......he has developed into a quality NBA player.....not that anyone could see that coming out of college or anything. 5 stars for putting out an original idea, and pffffttt to those who only poo poo original thinking like this..... DD
Yes man, totally agree that JJ has made great strides and has became a really good player, but I don't think he is what we need as of this moment. Maybe get him and trade C-bud for anthony randolph??
Aaron Brooks/Kyle Lowry Kevin Martin/J.J. Reddick Trevor Ariza/Chase Budinger Is a bad idea??? All I am saying is that you are SET for the rest of the decade on the perimeter. I believe Morey can make butter with the #14 pick and 2012 NY pick to get a quality reserve big to go with Jordan Hill, Luis Scola, Chuck Hayes and Yao Ming.
Think about a fastbreak with Kyle Lowry... You got Air Bud and Red Dick running the wings... You have Anthony Randolph and Jordan Hill filling the PIPE!!! Unstoppable!!!! (Chuck and Battier, Jeffries are watching and developing JT from the sidelines for that PT he will never get...) Not to mention Karaoke...

To be fair, that would not have been an airball if Coach K had been there to give him a boost. If Redick does not sign with a team, he can join Maloney around the Rice track.
Right, except only if Head was a key bench player and contributor on a team that made it to the conference finals in the playoffs. Or if Head was seemingly one of the only guys on said team, that when being unexpectedly controlled by the other squads defense, actually was able to get to the rack occasionally, hit shots, and be impactful...all while doing a decent job guarding one of the best moving around screens, popping three players of the last 10+ years in Ray Allen. I've never been on the JJ bandwagon until watching him in this years playoffs. He still has a ways to go, having made some stupid clutch decisions (dribbled the ball out towards half court ant the end of game instead of calling timeout immediately, thereby not allowing the Magic to advance the ball)...BUT, he played really well against Boston. Shot the ball well, shot his free throws well, and defended decently well. MLE player? I think that's a little much. Ultimately, he is just a shooter who will come off the bench and get 20-25 mpg max. But at a lesser amount, if there is money to spare, and especially if one of your other wings is moved in a deal, I'd take a look at him.
