game- last night Rockets won, chase bud continues to impress m- he's been great, he's done everything we thought he could don the upside, none of the downside. game- Andersen? m- he's a top center in Europe, he's tall, skilled offensively, a winner, like Scola, maybe not as good, he actually beat Scola for euro championships a few times. we think he’ll work well in an up tempo system. he's probably going to be a little below avg. def. g- Wafer? m- If we can get him at the right situation for us, I think we'll do it, whether or not that’ll match up with what von's looking for, we'll see. g- Taylor for wing? m- There is going to be one wing spot open. that job will be won in training camp. Jermaine is good, chase is a "revelation," James white comes in good defensively but offensively behind the others. m- Joey’s finally doing what we drafted him. he should have known since the rockets drafted him he'd be injured at some point. he's leading the league in rebounding. we need to cut out mental errors. two turnovers a game that he'll need to cut out if he wants to be a rotation player in the NBA. g- rotation at post? m- rotation of several guys. Dave, Luis, Carl. Cook/Dorsey might crack rotation... g- small rotation... guys under 6 10... Deke is for sure done? m- he's done. g- any other moves? m- I think we're going to try to upgrade through trades for a while here, we're leaving a roster spot open. may trade in late summer... g- you sound like you've got a deal that is eminent? m- no, the reality is we're over the luxury tax... no exciting players left to go after... we'll try to upgrade through trade... hopefully get McGrady back in shape... the two years ago McGrady... we feel like we can be very competitive. we're going to be battling to make the playoffs in a very tough west. g- Ariza... asked to do Battier style offense; do you have enough diversity from the 2, 3 positions? are they diverse enough to have them on the court playing minutes together? m- Trevor has potential to improve, game can expand... Shane and Trevor are going to be two of the guys in the rotation... Brooks sliding to 2... one of the newer guys winning minutes... g- Ariza, he can slash and finish, run, you clearly with the current players you have, with no Yao... it looks like this offense is finally going to be Rick's true offense with an up tempo. m- we're either going to play up-tempo or we're not going to win many games. we want good defense... want in top 5... chuck anchors that... g- face book page, DM split four aces in Vegas and got black jack on all four at once... took a picture. m- They made him shut the camera down. The desk wasn't very positive.
Beat me to the transcription . Here is mine anyway: He's on a plane so excuse the background noise (not in the air yet lol) Last night, Rockets beat Portland in SL. How about Chase? 17 pts in 19 minutes? DM: Yeah, he's done all the positive things we expected and none of the things on the downside. The coaches and players have been doing great. DM: He's a top C in Europe. Winning qualities, probably not as good as Scola. Last 7 teams, won 7 championships. We think he'll work well. He's not DH12 so a little rusty defensively. What's the plan with Von Wafer? DM: Von. If we get him at the right situation for us, we will but not sure that's what Von is looking for. JT? in the rotation next year? DM: There is 1 wing rotation spot available on the roster and it would probably be one of White, Budinger, JT. It would be one at training camp. JT has a more complete game than Wafer but probably less explosive. Chase is very skilled offensively; very good with PnR, moves well w/o the ball, but probably starts off weak defensively like Jermaine. James White is very good with his experience and athleticism but not as good offensively. Dorsey update: DM: Dorsey been impressive. We wanted him to rebound and he's doing that. We wanted him to be a defensive presence and he's pretty much achieving that. Just the mental mistakes that need to be reduced to become a rotation player. His quickness at that size is impressive Who will get minutes at the 5 when Andersen is out of the game? DM: I think we'll see a rotation of Chuck, David, Luis, Carl and maybe a few guys playing their way in to the rotation like Cook or Dorsey. Not sure exactly minute wise. That's a small rotation. Deke is for sure done right? DM: He got the cadaver (?) tendon put in but it's very unlikely that he'll play nBA basketball here. Any major roster changes in the making? DM: We're going to try and upgrade through trade for a while here, AND WE'RE LEAVING SOME POTENTIAL ROSTER SPOTS open to. We'll trade later int he summer, but it's more or less trades at this point. Are you close to a deal (imminent?) DM: No, no trade is imminent. There aren't any exciting players left to go after. We'll try and upgrade through trade. Hopefully we'll get McGrady back in a shape that can help us win (2 yrs back McGrady). We'll be competitive battling for the playoffs the whole way. Let me ask you about the composition of the team. You've got 2 guys who are simmilar (Ariza and Battier). Is there enough diversity at the 3 position to have both playing on the court together? DM: They are similar but Trevor has potential to improve, can add to his game (offensively too). We like defenders on our wing spots, they'll be 2 of the guys on our rotation. Brooks may slide to the 2, or one of the 4 guys (JT, CB, JW or VW wings) getting the minutes. Coach will mix and match them just like when we had Shane and Ron starting together last year and then changed it around. Trevor Ariza: can run, slash. Plenty of guys on the roster that can run. IT looks like this iwll finally be coach RA's true offense along with more fast break points. DM: We better do that or we're not scoring points. We're good defensively though with Carl, Luis all improving and Chuck of course. Offensively we'll have to play uptempo to get our scoring in the 10-15 place. fighting for a playoff spot. On your FB page, it says you got split aces 4 times and hit blackjack on all of them. is this true? DM: it is true but I didn't have a lot of money on the table so didn't win much. The deck was a bad deck; wasn't very positive. Conclusion: he counts cards.
Huh...interesting. Suggests either we're taking a flier on one of the SL guys and hoping Lowry can hold the fort or that Morey is lying through his teeth and the rumors of pursuing Sessions is true. (And I'd love to see a S&T for Andre Miller if that fell through) Either way, looking like a much more up-tempo team next year.
I kind of forgot about Brooks at the 2. Sounds like he'll get plenty of minutes there. I'm also excited to see Chuck get more minutes...he may be short, but he'll defend centers as well as anyone in the league other than maybe Dwight Howard and Shaq. I'm still excited about this team. They're not rebuilding, just going to hold out for a year or so until they can find another superstar to replace Mcgrady.
If Aaron's going to play the 2....well, that's what he is anyway, but the point being, Tmac won't be back anytime soon. Tmac could be a facilitator WHEN he's back. Otherwise, trade for a tall guard who can pass. I wouldn't even dream of getting Joe Johnson, certainly not Brandon Roy, but maybe a Rudy Fernandez or who knows....
Looks like McGrady is going to be on the roster. Do they even have a timetable for him yet? I thought we would know by July?
Yes, one spot in the rotation and them possibly competing with Wafer. It makes sense, but I admit it sounded strange for me to hear him say it.
Well it does sound like Morey disagrees with you. I really can't imagine how the fence-mending is going, but it sounds like it's real. TMac and the Rockets really need each other this year.
Well it seems... No trades are on the horizon but if he is going to be holding a roster spot back for more salary then if we do make a trade it may be a pretty significant trade to be willing to do such a thing. TMAC does appear to be on the team next year from what I heard and I'd say fairly soon probably Dec or Jan, dont see him trading him now unless its late summer as he talked about.
One ROTATION spot. At least two of them should make the team imo. I wonder where these mythical "Open Roster Spot"s are. Because Morey must be hiding them if they really do exist. IR: 1-2 T-mac/Yao. 3-4-5-6-7 Starters Brooks Battier Scola Ariza Andersen. 8-9 Guaranteed Rotation players Lowry Landry. 10 Hayes. 11 Dorsey. 12-13-14 Budinger Taylor White. 15-16 Cook Barry. 17 Wafer?
T-Mac needs the Rockets more than they need him, why do you think he quietly changed his jersey # for a new player, the same player that jacked his #1 in Orlando. If the Rockets refuse to trade T-Mac to a team where he can put up good numbers or refuse to play him period. He will be next year's Iverson when his contract expires
haha DM counts cards he went to MIT after all! I split 4 aces in Vegas this last trip as well I got black jacks on 3 of them too bad I was a fool and only had an initial bet of 10 bucks
