fate definitely dealt the rockets "a pretty sh-tty hand" as you put it. but fate also dealt them a GM who we can trust to build another talented team.

now we know why espn is up the lakers you know what.

dan gilbert and dave mallor don't deserve to be on that list. there must be 2 other people who have a bigger impact in creativity than these guys.

um... so far he's done little this off season to show his worth as a GM. I love the guy and think he's amazing but this year might be his worst yet. He botched the Gortat deal.

If these new players pan out and Ariza works out, then it will be a mediocre year because our number one goal has yet to be fixed... sign a center to replace Yao.

Oh and what about resigning Artest and Wafer? Not going to happen. Argue that he's rebuilding, ok... but rebuilding won't win a ring.

on my previous comment... we've needed a backup for years. Mutombo as a replacement center is nice and all, but we all knew it was a health risk. He was cheap however, but the rockets have paid a price in the end. Morey is good about spending Les' money, but sometime you have to spend more than you want in order to give your coach something to work with. Rick has been a great sport for what little management has given him so far. I'm sure they are working on giving him something more to work with in the post as I type, but if they don't I'm going to lose all respect for the Rocket's management.

Yeah, there is a reason that Morey didn't want to offer Gortat the full MLE. There is a reason that Morey doesn't want to resign Wafer, or offer Artest a contract for more than one year.

There is also a reason why Morey locked up Ariza for 5 years, the longest contract that Morey has offered. Carl Landry didn't get nearly as much for nearly as long.

Sometimes it's about the deals you don't make. Sure any dumbass GM could sign any descent player and look half good but only time will tell how good Morey's decisions are.

I'm glad Wafer is gone. He couldn't even score over Vuijachick and then he blames the coach for not giving him minutes. What garbage.

As for Artest, his playoff numbers show how much he is worth. Pissed Kobe off in between plays and not by his defense. Letting him sign with Lakers maybe what ultimately helps us out in that it creates chemistry issues on that Lakers squad.

I'm not saying he has made bad moves, I'm pointing out that he hasn't made any moves. Nothing vital at least. The jury is out.

Do you remember what our bench looked like before he got here? What do you expect him to do with his two all stars injured? He is not going offer much money or force himself into long term contracts when there is going to be a good free agency next year. By not making big moves he is making the right moves.

How did he botch Gortat. Would you be willing to overpay and overvalue players? He's not looking towards only the present, but the future as well. He needs enough flexibility for the 2010 free agency.

Who needs creativity, when you are making dumb moves like reject Kerr's offer of Amare for T-mac? Gimme a simple deal that brings a star.
