well apparently darko isnt happy in detroit with the minimum playing time he is getting. what do yal think about us taking a chance on him? he is still real young and can improve...and he wants to prove to everyone he isnt just a human victory cigar. if he could come cheap... the rox should def. jump on it for sure. i just dont know too much about him... what do yal know?
it doesn't matter if he's happy or not, Detroit has 2 more years on his contract so he isn't going anywhere.
Det is going to trade Darko. Brown is going to be gone next year, Sheed is old, AM is old, Darko is still very young and still has a lot of potential. Dumars isn't dumb, I'm sure he will get the next coach to give Darko some minutes.
If Darke is traded Detroit would be saying, we made a mistake, we should of taken Carmelo and Detroit isnt willing to do that (yea i know yall are thinking well Wade is better than Melo but no one considered Wade a no. 2 pick at that point)
Detriot will not trade Darko....they know what they have and will wait for him. Let's just say if he doesn't work out the way the Pistons hope in a couple of years, they wouldn't pickup his option and he probably go or get traded to the Bulls. He likes Chi-town
Detroit won't trade Darko due to the fact that his value is so low right now. I'm sure they'd want a marquee player in exchange for this past #2 pick and no team would be willing. They are gonna continue to try and slowly develop him and hope for the best.
Darko is about a year younger than Lebron and Melo, in fact he still 19 (for a couple of days anyway), not to mention probably less developed physically for his age (Lebron especially was kind of a physical freak at age 17). It is way to early for Detroit to consider trading him unless it for a top 5 pick or better. They don't want to do a Portland, who traded J Oneal at 21 only to see him totally bust out on the league at age 23. Also, Detroit isn't that old, their top 7 MPG guys are 30 or younger. Ben, Sheed and McDyess all turn 31 in September, but everyone else is considerably younger. Not much different overall than the Spurs, Duncan is 29, Manu will be 28 next month, Barry, Bowen and Horry are all mid 30s. Both teams are close to onthe same time table for being elite, teams like us and Phx (maybe Chic, Denver?) are up and comers with a much longer outlook.
Yes, I do too. I really think he has a legit reason to sit Dewayne Wade, Lebron James and Amare Stoudamire (all NBA first/second teamers) on the bench while playing Stephon Marbury and Richard Jefferson alot in the Olympics last summer...
This is the same coach who benched Amare and Lebron in the Olympics... Not that he's not a good coach, but just because he doesn't play a guy doesn't mean the guy can't play.
Do you think Joe Dumars learned anything by picking up Chauncey Billups Billups was the third overall pick of the 1996-97 draft when Rick Pitino and the Celtics were waylaid by the Spurs in the draft lottery and lost the rights to Tim Duncan. Ouch! Billups tore it up... contracts that is. 97 Celtics 98 Rapors 99 Nuggets 00 Magic 01 Nuggets 02 Timberwolves 03 Pistons and the rest is history I think Billups was an early-entry his sophomore year out of Colorado, so that would make him about Darko's age right now. It's way too early to give up on Darko but if they want to send him our way, go ahead.
Right, but again, we are talking about benching those first year, relatively green players for proven vets who likely will not play in another Olympics. Looking back it's easy to say he probably should have played them more. If the guy could play, he would be on the court, especially in his second year. Darko may not be a bust, but he is far from becoming an NBA regular.
