Lol, Mike D'Antoni trying to take credit for the Magic's and Suns's playoff runs. Hilarious.

It's funny that he says that they talked about defense in Phoenix but didn't get the players to buy into his defensive philosophy (if such a thing exists in his head), yet NY is pretty sh!tty defensively as well.

What an ass. Seriously, I'm glad he is falling and burning in NY.

How do the Magic reflect D'Antoni's style of play?

I'm not saying that they don't but they were in the bottom half of the league in terms of pace of play and have an inside-out half-court offense with a traditional big man in the middle. They were also tied with Charlotte for the best defensive team in the league in terms of defensive efficiency. How is that a trait of D'Antoni's system?

Furthermore, the Suns haven't even tasted the finals in the Nash era. I'm pulling for them to get there this season because I like Nash but the fact is that they faced a declining Spurs team and still have to get past the Lakers. They also seem to be playing better defense than during any point while D'Antoni was there and it has to do with a lot more than just getting through to Stoudemire.

D'Antoni is a terrible coach, he is just looking for reassurance

The only thing their success validates is the need to have a superstar on your team. A superstar with a good supporting cast.

"Playoff Runs Of Magic, Suns Validate My Offensive System"

Is that title a little more accurate?

First of all D'Antoni should not even mention Magic , Magic are completely different team from the Suns . Magic made the finals last year , Magic are 8-0 in the playoffs and looking to make the finals again this year .

P.S Aggie Football is downright Offensive :)

I don't get it either. The most important player and entire backbone of the Suns is Nash (duh) so the idea of comparing the two seems like apples and oranges to me. With the Magic, EVERYTHING they do depends upon Dwight's ability to dominate inside and draw double teams. Everything, and because of that Dwight is probably the second or third most valuable player in basketball outside of LeBron. I just don't see a correlation between an effective inside-outside game versus those SSOL Suns teams.

I use his Suns as an example as to why his system never works. LOL

I don't get the Magic comparison. The Magic are a medium-paced team who play great defense. The Suns under D'Antoni were a fast paced team that play average defense.

The only thing they got in common is they both shoot a lot of 3s and employ 3 pt shooting PF/C.

Did D'Antoni basicall just say Gentry reached Amare because Genry is black?

I don't see how you're getting that from the quote I read. He said that Gentry was able to reach Amare and he couldn't. Gentry and Amare have more of a bond. There was nothing even remotely about race.

Mike D'Antoni and Sarver have always been Grade A jackasses.

Total lack of class on Mike's part and I am not surprised.

Deep down inside you know he is burning that he could not knock out the Spurs.

    Why does this even matter?

Neither the Magic nor the Suns are going to win the championship this year... they probably never will in this system. The Magic made it to the finals and lost with the system... the Suns have made the WCF before with this system under D'Antoni. I don't see where success has come other than winning a few rounds and making it to the finals.
