chievous, is this the guy you said if he committed, there were a couple of other great players ready to commit as well?
He must really like UT if he chooses them during his junior season...I heard yesterday he was rated in the top 10 nationally among guards. If that's the case, enjoy him for a year...
He is bball. He is rated as the 4th best guard in the country, and he is only a junior. The only thing that concerns me is when people commit more than a year in advance, other teams can go after them even hared as they have nothing to lose. He was interviewed a couple of weeks back here locally and OU, KU Ak, Arizona and Duke were the other schools he was looking at. I hope he stays. BTW, I saw Limas Sweed playing against Beaumont Ozen the other night. Sweed is the center for Brenham bball team. He is not much of a bball player, but you could not help to notice his awsome leaping ability and speed. When they introduced him, they said 6'6" and that may well be true. Can you imagine having a WR that tall running 4.43? That could be unbelievable!!
Pg/G Daniel Gibson Chooses UT Rated #21 in the country. If you get a chance, please support the UT Rivals website. http://www.the-university.com/ What Makes Gibson So Special By: Mike Sullivan Date: February 27, 2003 Content from RivalsHoops.com Daniel Gibson from Houston, Texas, a 6-3 guard from the 2004 class, made a lot of happy Longhorn fans happy when he selected Rick Barnes' program as his next level of competition. Here is why it was important to land Gibson: 1. Texas shows the college basketball world that it will have an outstanding program in the future. 2. Daniel Gibson will have the same impact that T.J. Ford has had for the Longhorns, giving Texas a terrific backcourt. 3. Daniel Gibson will play the point guard slot and Texas won't lose a step when Ford is gone. 4. This has to open the eyes of recruiting targets LaMarcus Aldridge, Marshall Brown, and Mike Williams, all targets in the 2004 class. Texas basketball has made a statement today -- the basketball program has an outstanding future. **Gibson averaged 26 points and seven assists a game this season. He is currently rated the 21st best player in the country.
Awesome pickup for Barnes. Keep up the good work. We'll have a bunch of open scholarships in '04 once the Thomas-Mouton-Ivey-Boddicker class all graduate. Gibson should definitely help fill the void.
He is supposed to be great and it could also lead some other recruits to sign with us too. The domino effect. TJ Ford is doing the same thing for Barnes that Ricky Williams did for Mack Brown.
Daniel Gibson, 6-3 PG, Houston (TX) Jones- Perhaps the finest all around guard prospect in the nation, D-Gib is everything that you could want in a guard and then some. Blessed with virtually unlimited range and the ability to take defenders off of the bounce and score, Gibson is also a very talented distributor. He’s fully qualified, a national top five prospect and he will choose from Texas, OU, Arkansas and Kansas on his birthday this Thursday. http://kansas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=169673
