I just saw the two of them talking on ESPN sportscenter and I missed the beginning, but Patrick was really giving Herm a hard time, something about lying. Seems like there is a history between the two of them. drapg or anyone else - what is the scoop there?
Dan asked him if he would perfer a shut down corner or a top flight running back, and Edwards said the RB. Patrick later asked if he'd rather have Ty Law or Curtis Martin and Edwards said Martin. I believe that's when he started talking about lying.
I don't understand. So, Herm said he wanted the RB and then said Curtis Martin over Ty Law? Did you mistype that because if you didn't, that makes no sense to me that Patrick would think that Herm was lying.
Sorta seems like that, saw him and mark cuban argue about cubans comments about the kobe trial helping the nba. I think its entertaining. Dan Patrick is also a former Dayton Flyer
Perhaps Patrick is upset at Edwards for his media embargo enforced a few months ago... This was just after he had won an award as the most accessible coach in the NFL... Edwards and the Jets GM both refused to grant interviews... Just a thought... not sure if it means anything in this case.
from what i saw, i thought they were mostly just kidding around about all the secrecy that surrounds who teams are going to pick and such when draft time comes around. but maybe there's more than i know to this.
Used tp be a big Dan Patrick fan. Back when Keith Olberman and Dan would host the 10:00 Sportscenter. Since then, he has slowly gotten worse. And his radio show, wow, it doesn't get any worse. Horrible, horrible radio program.
Dan Patrick is the single worst thing to happen to radio. His show is about as fake as a show can get. Its like 2-3 r****ded old ass Beavis and Butthead. Except they are not funny. They fake laugh at every single little thing.
As a sports anchor, Dan Patrick is solid. But as an "interviewer" he is an ass. Almost all the interviews I have seen him give he goes out of his way to try to stir stuff up (the Cuban inteview listed above is a great example). He just makes his guests uncomfortable. I suppose he does this to try to get them to say something controversial. The reality, is he doesnt need to do use the tactics he uses, just make sure to ask the right questions, and ask them the right way. I always feel uncomfortable watching his interviews. You can still have a solid interesting and non vanilla intrerview without being an ass.
Patrick's job is to get an athlete to slip up and tell the truth for a change, rather than the cookie-cutter replies he has rehearsed with his agent. Many people praise Jim Rome for his interviewing style. Personally, I despise it. He comes across as a kiss-ass who doesn't ask tough questions. But Patrick goes for the jugular. Athletes come into the situation knowing what they're walking into, and still VOLUNTARILY agree to participate. Patrick is the king of interviewers. I really admire his style.
Jim Rome asks tough questions. I have to disagree strongly right there. I get tired of Jim's act at times but he asks tough questions. When he interviewed Barry Sanders about 4 months ago he asked him questions about not returning Bobby Ross's phone calls and other tough questions about his retirement. I was very impressed.
I love Dan Patricks interviews. For those who haven't heard this it was pretty funny http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/show?showId=1058217# Scroll to the bottom where it says "Doubting Tonya". Classic interview
exactly. And, Rome sounds too intense for me. I like him as he seems to be a nice guy, but I actually prefer Dan's interviews and shows.
Disagree. Patrick will ask tough questions, get an answer and then beat the thing to death after the person already answered the question. You can still ask tough questions and do it with style and grace, instead of trying to be a $hit stirrer, much like Jim Gray. There isnt always a coverup with each interviewee.
I sometimes listen to his show (to see if it has gotten any better) while driving. He makes me wanna vomit all over my freakin windshield and run over people. I dont know what it is, but I absolutely hate the guy. If someone offered me $1000 or a chance to kick his ass I would chose the latter. He makes me wanna drive down to where ever the hell he and his crew are doing the interviews and tie them up and hold em hostage. Then I would perform cruel and excruciating torture on them. I would make them listen to their own r****ded ass laughs until they die a horrible silly death. Want me to go on?
