He made an interesting parallel and I wanted to get your reaction here... DP said that the Rockets streak was a great story and a "great achievement," but doesn't mean anything for a team with Tracy McGrady, who's yet to get out of the first round. Ultimately, he said, Tracy McGrady will always be remembered as the "Alex Rodriguez" of the NBA: "a great player" but one who's yet to win a playoff series. T-Mac and A-Rod...I never thought of it that way before. So which one of these "five-tool" players do you think will get past the first round first?
TMac & others have already said, they are more focused on setting themselves up for a better opportunity in the playoffs with the wins. The streak is great, but a great run in the playoffs are better.
No because A-Rod actually sucks in the playoffs. He hit WELL below his average while T-Mac is averaging well over his reg. season averages.
I love me some Tmac but A-Rod may be the greatest individual player ever, I mean freaking very. Tracy would not even be int he greats 75 of all time.
I really don't care about Tracy McGrady Playoff history. Its not that he can't lead, its just that he has bad luck. What if we are in the east this year and we are playing philadelphia or New Jersey Nets in the playoffs and we eaily hand them defeat in the first round and then we lose to Celtics in 7 games in the second round. Will that get Mcgrady off the "Can't lead a team out of first round" discussions. I mean playing the first round in the west is like playing the 2nd round in the Eastern conference. You just can't blame Mcgrady to play teams like UTAH JAZZ and DALLAS MAVERICKS in the first round while Lebron James play wizards and scrubs in the leastern conference.
Tracy's reputation is his problem, not mine. I just want to see the Rockets kick Dallas or Utah out of the playoffs. Anything else is gravy. And Tracy will get bashed until he wins a Championship. They all get bashed until they win a Championship. Nothing new about that.
One thing people always forgot when criticize TMac's playoff "failure", TMac's team has never had a home-court advantage, except last year vs Utah. That means his teams were the lower seeds, and were supposed to lose. Last year was the only year he should have won because the Rockets were 4 seed vs the 5 seed Jazz, and they were a few points away from winning the game 7.
I don't really understand what the streak has to do with Tracy McGrady's playoff history or what the Rockets ultimately do this postseason. I do not see the relevance.
these so called expert, are idiots. of course thsi streak means nothing, any of those previous streaks meant nothing of those team didn't win the championship. Lakers 33 win streak would mean nothing if they haven't won that year. DP should wait until this season is over for this article. if we won all the way, then this streak mean alot to us, if we didn't then it means nothing, a oxynmoron kind of thing. The end justify the means.
A-Rod has played in 7 Division Series, he has hit well below his career averages, His teams are 3-4. He has played in 3 League Championship Series, he has hit well above his career averages. His teams are 0-3.
If Rox lose to Lakers yesterday i would blame it on Tmac not to bring it. Now he said that on some night you just don't have it and some you do...and i agreed with him on that...BUT there is a difference between not having it and not wanting to have it!! The motivation is not there in the Lakers game...the will to want to have it is not there....it is the same reason people criticize him for lack of competitiveness and lazy eye nature. You look at him and Kobe's hunger on the court, and you can see the difference. If you don't really want to play well, then you're NOT GOING TO PLAY WELL!! When he defer the ball to Rafer for the final shot before the end of the 1st half, i was SHOCKED! This is what i mean WANTING TO HAVE IT!! He just doesn't have it...his nature is not there. The fact that he's not mad at himself for not playing well is an indicative of lack of competitiveness. It is the same reason people criticize Yao for being soft in the beginning of his career. He does not have the nature to bang and be aggressive but he learned and not thrive off of criticism and i hope Tmac learn a lesson from Kobe. If yesterday's game is a big deal game and Tmac didn't show up...what make you think he will in big games like Playoffs.
