Yeah. It's the almighty dollar ... otherwise there is no reason in the world that crappy teams would be bending over so often to give Mark Cuban whatever he wants and take whatever he dumps off. This is twice now though for the Warriors.

Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors have agreed in principle to a trade Tuesday, in which forward Eduardo Najera, forward Christian Laettner, two future first-round picks, and cash go to Golden State in exchange for center Erick Dampier, center Evan Eschmeyer, and guard Dan Dickau.

I think the Mavs stole this trade. They finally got a true center, a backup center, and have competition for backup PG setup b/t Dickau and Harris.

    PG: Terry/Daniels/Harris/Dickau
    SG: Stackhouse/ or Finley
    SF: Finley/Howard
    PF: Nowitzki/Henderson
    C: Dampier/Eschmeyer/Booth/Bradley/Pavel P

Overloaded at PG and C. They are lacking backups at SG and have only 1 backup for SF and PF. Unless Nelson moves the other players around to play big or small, they really need to get some help at those other positions.

Isn't 3M the most someone can throw in in terms of "cash" in a deal?

What's sad here for Dallas is why couldnt they have KEPT Nash and THEN made this deal. This is the trade Dallas should have made LAST year.

They gain the center they needed, rebounding, shotblocking, but still offensively without Nash it wont be quite as well oiled a machine.

To me for GS this deal is all about those 2 #1 picks.

This is what the lineup will look like

    Terry/Harris/Dickau
    Daniels/Stackhouse
    Finley/Howard
    Nowitzki/Booth/Henderson
    Dampier/Bradley/

they will still have Pavel, DJ, and Wahad at least on the IR. They are actually really deep at every position on the floor.

How is Daniels a SG? When Nash left, Dallas signed him to a huge contract to run this team. Dallas going to move him to SG?

And Booth, isn't he a center?

Wow! What a suck ()() trade for GS. Depending on who's 1st rd picks. If Dallas' then this really sucks. The one hope is that Dampier's first good year in many will have Dallas signing him to a mega contract and then he returns to an oft-injured, journeyman center.

On the other hand, I sure won't miss Najera (with all the elbows, knees, and shoulders he was able to get away with you would have thought he played for UTA)...

Daniels can easily play the 2

still can't work out why they traded for Terry

landing Damp is huge, but I'm with Duece they payroll would have been no more if they had re-signed Nash and then made this trade

This trade helps the Mavs, but I don't like the chemistry between the Dallas players' skillssets. That's a lot of soft shooters, with no superior passers or defenders.

I'm not afraid of them at all. We match up with them pretty well defensively imo. They were a much bigger problem for us in years past.

This stinks of Fegan. The same crap he pulled with Anderson and Dream just to get tehm/him their money. I hope Dampier/Dallas don't live to regret this like Anderson/NY and Dream/Raps. It's all about money and bad for the NBA.

Is it just me or does it seem like a blessing that Yao won't have to face Najera as much? :)

Unless the NBA went to "unbalanced schdules" like baseball, I think we still play them 4x a year. :(

only if cubes agrees to let the rox pay at the most the league minimum while he takes care of the rest and then some.

i know you can do that in baseball but I don't think that's allowed in the nba. anyway, spoon makes more $ than bradley but has a shorter contract.

i'd prefer bradley to mutombo or clark

I'm pretty sure we only play Golden State 3 times (once at home, twice on the road). Don't forget that there's a new franchise, a new team in the conference, and division restructuring.

EDIT: Also, there's no chance of seeing GS in the playoffs ;)
