I understand the Mirror, a British paper, is condemning Bush for "preaching peace" to Israel after trying to convince Blair to plan war on Iraq... so let me get this straight Bush administration could: 1. Do nothing...get criticized; 2. Tell Israel it should defend itself and do so through any means necessary...and get criticized; or 3. Tell Israel to cool it and work for peace....AND GET CRITICIZED??? unbelievable. the United States can do no right in the eyes of Europe. It is one thing to call out a nation, a person, a group, etc for acts you disagree with...but quite another to find an angle to criticize no matter what they do. That's what we see from Europe now...Europe is blaming the US for not being more involved in the peace process...now they're calling the administration hypocritical...so they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't. oh, well....just another in a long line of complaints. tell them to take a number.
So basically you're saying that this one paper speaks for all of Europe? That's like saying either boy or treeman represents all America's viewpoints. If the NY Times runs an editorial, do you automatically assume that's what America thinks?
1. The Mirror is not a "real" paper 2. This is on their website and does not seem to be condemning Bush. 3. Did I mention that The Mirror is not a real paper? Just kidding, of course, for any Mirror fans out there.
Dr -- you're quite correct...this isn't ALL of Europe. I don't know what the Mirror's other stances on Bush have been...so I might be WAY off. My post was just my first thoughts after seeing the cover of the Mirror yesterday off of Drudgereport.com. rim -- i'm a HUGE mirror fan!! I wish you'd lay off the Mirror!! I'm off to read the Inquirer, now....good day to you!
MadMax, Even if the entire paper is anti-American, I still don't think you can even remotely claim that this is somehow "what Europe thinks". Anyway... carry on.
I'm with you Dr...it was an overreaction to what I read. Probably won't be the last time I do that!! My bad!!!
