The Rockets will have a tough time competing against Dallas (for many years). How could Denver be that stupid, to trade Van Exel & Raef for Juan & Hardaway.

Damn, that is no better than us trading KT & Moochie for Raef & Van Exel!!

I can't believe that Denver did this deal.

Where is Nuggets4 and Nugzfan to bash this deal?

And to think, some of the dreamcasting that we did on this board for LaFrentz was bashed by Nuggets4 and NugzFan.:D

    LOL

What were they thinking taking on Howard's 20 million a year contract. The Rockets need to capitalize on the Nuggets idiotic management and try to land McDyess.

And the Rockets will probably be picking after Denver in the draft this year.

I am speechless....The Nuggets have ten years of suck ahead of them. This is perhaps the dumbest thing the Nuggets could possibly do. Absolutely amazing!!

The Dallas Mavericks just picked the strawberries out of a tar pit and took a crap on it.

    WHAT A STEAL:D

Incredible transformation of Mavs team over last 2-3 years. They may be good enough to challenge even the Lakers now.

Will always be a Rocket fan, but it's hard not to love what's happening here in Dallas. At least one of my teams is having a good year.;)

    Dallas Rocket

    ...and how DUMMMMBBBB is Denver????

I do not think the trade was that lopsided. They are clearly going nowhere and they are trying to get rid of their bad contracts. Their chances of signing Raef at the end of the year was very slim and they did what they could. They will have plenty of money to sign free agents when Howard's contract is over which coincidentally is going to be one of the best free agent classes in recent years. Addition by subtraction.

They should of pulled the trigger on a trade about a month ago.

I'm speechless. I'm pissed off. I can't defend my team. To read my whole rant, go to the NBA Dish board.

    AHEM AHEM.....

Yesterday, if you had proposed this trade to our two friends from the nuggets, they would've begun their routine for "reason number ** trade ideas should be banned"...

Now, I'm sure we could've come up with a better deal than this. Juwan Howard for 19M or Mo Taylor for 6.5M? Hmmmmmmm....

Honestly, we should've gone after Juwan to put ourselves into the Duncan sweepstakes...20M comes off the books when Juwan's contract is up.....You better beleive we have a chance and Denver don't....

I just don't understand some trades...

BUT, Denver can come out looking like geniuses if they can find themselves a Tinsley with the pick (late first).

BTW, Dallas still don't rule. I doubt they even get better. It's just a feeling.

    Bad trade, both sides.

I definitely think the Rockets could've put up a better offer, if everyone on the roster were healthy. However the main reason they took on Howard's contract is to unload it next year after it expires, as well as the fact that they could not resign LaFrentz, and wanted to get rid of NVE. Now you're going to see McDyess want out of Denver soon.

Anybody see CB and Kenny on NBA Tonight? Neither one of them liked the deal for Dallas. I think they thought that Dallas got the better of the deal, but they both seemed to think it would not be as helpful as everybody here is saying.

In sum, they thought Dallas needed more defense not more offense. I know; LaFrenz is second in the league in shot-blocking.... but CB chooses to ignore that.

Come to think of it, Denver should've traded McDyess for Fizer and Greg Anthony and the Bulls pick this upcoming draft.

They might as ell get SOMETHING for him.

I'm serious, they should've gone for a top 2 pick with Mcdyess.

Only problem being, what are the chances you'll be the worst team in the league when you have Mcdyess and Rose, or Mcdyess and anyone for that matter.

Although Dallas received more quality players than the Nugz, this is not a very good trade. The Mavericks will start to look more and more like the soap opera that used to be in Portland. There is too much depth at many postitons. A vet like AJ probably will get no more than 2 minutes a game. Nick the Quick will not get that many minutes either. How much do you want to bet that Nellie stays with Nash for the majority of each game? The only player to benefit in Dallas is Raef Lafrentz. Dallas lacked a true center, but now the position is filled. Oh well..........

Laefrenz is better than Howard (especially defensively) and NVE is better than Hardaway. They didn't just get deeper, they got better, substantially better. The Mavs killed Denver, and most of the rest of the West I am afraid.

I can't belive I am posting in the wong forum, but....

Nellie will make this work. Nick will get time. He will run Nash and Nick at eh same time and slide Dirk to center, or Finley to sf.
Abdul Wahad (sp?) is a lemon, but Cuban doesn't cae about he cap. Hope they can hold onto LaFrentz.

Feel bad for Timmy. He liked being in Dallas and was playing well of the bench, but Nick is the better player.

The Mavs have run Nash and Hardaway in the backcourt at the same time before; now they have Van Exel taking Tim's spot. We had a hard enough time with the Dallas guards, it's only going to get worse.

LaFrentz is also an upgrade. The only question is whether Van Exel will be happy; he's on a contender, so he should be.

I gave a credit on Nelson, showcasing Howard and Harvey, and Denver had lost so much on this deal. To have nash and Van Exel will be one bad ass duo!

Anyone know who we're getting? I guess not!
