With all of the new stadiums how long will it be before Houston hosts another Super Bowl? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2878922 North Texas bid beats Indy, Arizona for 2011 Super Bowl Associated Press Updated: May 22, 2007, 4:02 PM ET NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Dallas Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington, Texas, will host the 2011 Super Bowl, beating out bids by Indianapolis and Arizona. AP Photo/Dallas Cowboys The Cowboys' new stadium, seen in this artist's rendering, will host the 2011 Super Bowl. NFL owners voted Tuesday for the North Texas group, which had Hall of Famer Roger Staubach lobbying on its behalf. The Cowboys' $1 billion stadium seats up to 100,000 and will open in 2009. It has about 27,000 more seats than the stadiums in the losing cities. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the actual crowd ticketed at the game could reach 120,000 with fans being able to watch video screens at each end zone. Those numbers helped, and that was something they considered in designing this stadium.
bob mcnair ruined houston's chance of getting another superbowl when he voted against revenue sharing.
Exactly. You guys shouldn't completely buy into the Houston media's take on how "enamored" the NFL was with our Super Bowl. Yes, it did go off without a hitch, and yes, the NFL was impressed.... but impressed to the point where they "owe" us another Super Bowl, over other marquee/warm weather cities, is being a little presumptious. Arlington will get their moment in the sun (or cold... however it is in January)... just as Houston will when they host the final four that March.
i think it's important to remember.... this takes place in Arlington not dallas. there's no main street event connnected to the game. the area surrounding the stadium consists of parking, an amusement park that won't be open, a baseball stadium with no baseball going on...and a couple of malls. oh, there's a pappadeux. have fun, boys. biggest mistake they made was not ponying up enough cash in dallas to get the stadium built there. oh, and not putting a freaking roof on AmeriQuest Field.
^ Word... At least you were able to go hang out downtown Houston for ours...WTF are you going to do in Arlington? nothing...Although, there are a lot of tiddy bars around there...
the stadium will be nice for this but everyone will bash the transportation issues. Weather could be a factor. When will Houston have another chance for one?
F-little d. This is your one and only super bowl and it's in freaking Arlington. 2011 Final Four>2011 Super Bowl
You don't think the NCAA won't be chomping at the bit to play a Final Four there too? I'm not saying Houston deserves anything...like I said, I just wonder when they'll get there next one again.
FYI : Downtown Ft. Worth is about 10-15 minutes west of the stadium and downtown Dallas is about 20 minutes east. It's not like Arlington is in the middle of nowhere. Well, as long as you have a car anyway.
