This is to all you wonderful people out there, who i had to listen to all year talk about how great dallas was, and how they were so fun to watch, and how they were going to win it all. They only won one game in the second round, so after all the great trades and all the hype, they ended up not doing any better than last year. at least in the 90s when everyone in Texas jumped on the Rockets bandwagon, they didnt dissappoint. The mavericks are a flash in the pan and theyll never be better than the lakers, spurs, or kings. good series shawn bradley.
Actually, I enojyed watching the Mavs play so you were wrong on one point, they were fun to watch. Kings/Mavs series is what basketball is all about... great series as a fan
I honestly think that series would have gone 7 with Juwan Howard instead of NVE and Raef Juwan is an underrated one on one post defender
I still had fun watching Dallas lose even though I wanted them to win. I jumped on the bandwagon and I dont think I'm going to jump off of it. The Rockets are still my #1 love by far, but I have really enjoyed watching the Mavs play and the passion that everyone in the organization seems to have for playing the game. I just hope the rockets sweep them in the regular season next year...
I hoped dallas would win, but i thought the Lakers will be champion, i thougt Dallas would beat the kings, so i was wrong, The kings are better than i thougt. but the lakers wil be champion.
Good question GettingBranded. Perhaps hire 3 more assistant coaches and sign another PG? JK.... I really don't know. Dallas I think had their heart broken bad in game 4 which was the reason why this series ended so soon. Almost everybody predicted atleast 7 games and IMO it would've gone 7 games for sure had Dallas not choked in game 4. Sadly to say I think the Spurs will fall even harder to the Lakers in game 5 because their loss was even tougher. Back to the Mavs though, I dont think they would want to make anymore trades but rather hope for next year.
I enjoyed watching the Mavs series. With Cuban, I do not think Dallas will be a flash in the pan. He wants to win so badly I feel he will do whatever it takes to get to the next level.
THIS thread is bringing back some great memories. Mavs in five? Mavs in four? There's a reason why Sacramento won 61 games this year...
Well, it looks like depth isn't that important a factor in the playoffs... Six, count 'em, six players scored for the Kings in the deciding game five last night
Good question. Avery Johnson wasn't on the playoff roster but has 2 more years on his contract. My guess is they ditch the 2 PG concept for some inside post presence on O and D. Would the Knicks be interested in NVE for Camby and Kurt Thomas? Cuban is a risk taker and Miami needs players - NVE & La Frentz + fill for Zo? What would the Bulls take for Chandler and/or Fizer? Cuban wants to win and my guess would be that all of Dallas' brain trusts will be meeting behind closed doors ASAP to discuss the early exit, the draft, and the direction for 2002-2003. I enjoyed watching the Mavs & Kings, but felt the Kings had the edge in experience. I wasn't pulling too hard for the Mavs because I don't think their mentally ready for a WC showdown with the Laker$.
You don't need much bench when six players shoot 50% and all 6 score double digits including three with 20+.
Personally I would like to see them go after Antonio McDyess, and Jamal Magloire or PJ Brown. I don't think McDyess would be that hard for Dallas to get. McDyess has already stated that he wanted out of Denver when NVE (his best friend) was traded. Denver never wanted to include LaFrenz in that trade. I'm sure Cuban and Nellie could package something together to get McDyess in a Dallas uni. I also think they should keep NVE. He's a very good complement to Nash, and with some inside defensive help Nash, and Nick's defense won't look half as bad. Dallas must also resign Najera, and Wang.
, if they got Zo, they would be so much better. Zo Dirk Griffin Finley Nash It would also, however, make the a much older team. Trading for Alonzo only gives them a 2-3 year window to make a run at the title.
I don't know, but I definately know it isn't trading Finley and LaFrentz for friggin Yao Ming and Marcus Fizer from the Bulls. Smith is smoking something there.
