First let me say, I really love Houston...Lived there most of my life, etc... Second, coming from Albuquerque, NM, without Texas women, any place is Heaven... Went to Deep Ellum (msp?) Friday night, pretty cool...lots of bars, clubs, etc...Ended up at Coyote Ugly...The bartenders were pretty hot, but obnoxious...the body shot is just plain wrong...I didnt' get one, my friend did and he ended up going to Target before going to the next club...nuff said... On the way to the next spot, driving out of downtown, we passed by these lofts and a couple of girls were getting undress ("topless") on the second floor and you could see everything...Granted, I'm not normally a perv, but I don't think the girls realized you could see through the blinds...Nice... Lower Greenville is pretty cool also...Hung out at Hurricane's...Live band, good beer, beautiful women...The other bars are cool too...Tons of people, check that, tons of drunk women...Very Nice...can't wait to go back...Don't know if it's this way from Wed. on, but if someone could let me know... We also went to Knox/Travis?...Chapango's (msp?)...great place to take a date to listen to live music, etc...In that area, a lot of good "date" places... Lastly, I flew into Houston, hung over, Saturday morning and at McDonald's, I ran into Kelly Milligan (ESPN Dream Job)...Cool guy, very nice...He had a St. Louis Cardinals Jacket and I bragged about the Stros', of course...He said his "15 minutes are up", but people still recognized him...
rrj_gamz, Deep Ellum and the West End are great places to hang out. You should also try Belt Line in Addison. I think there are a few clubs down that way, but a bunch of restaurants to try out.
' The only one I heard over there is Carson's, which I didn't get to try out, but probably will this Friday... I think's its at Dallas Tollway and Trinity near Beltline, but I don't know for sure... Anyway, once I get settled, maybe we can get the Dallas BBS'ers to meet at a sports bar to watch the Stros', Texans, Rox, etc...
Some of the best weekends of my life were spent in drunken hazes in Dallas during Texas-OU weekend as an undergrad. I don't remember anything about the city but I'm sure it's a lot of fun.
My favorite Dallas memory was Texas-OU in 1980, when my buddy got arrested for walking the wrong way down a one way sidewalk.
You need to come out to The Double Wide down on Commerce this Friday. My buddy's band Wellwisher is going to be playing that night around midnight and there's supposed to be a rep from Universal Records there to check them out. Need to get a huge crowd out there to support them...
Is this a country bar? I'll be going to Houston this friday, but will be in the following Friday...Will check when they play next... Also, can anyone recommend other places that are good on Wednesday or Thursday nights...
