Here is my question, and I am sure it has been addressed before on the board, but the purpose of Antawn Jamison and Antoine Walker being on this team still baffles me. Its a shame to see such a talent like Jamison be stuck on the bench and getting crappy minutes. Would the Rockets ever consider him? If they did, who would have to go. I know he is an offensive threat, but defensively he isnt great, but really, who is on the Mavs bench. Thanks...

Jamison makes max contract money, but he doesn't have max contract talent. He made max contract money last year with the Warriors, and he couldn't take those guys to the playoffs.

Golden State wised up fast. They dumped Jamison quickly on filthy rich Mark Cuban. Cuban is willing to take a loss on his team, so he'll take absurd contracts. Let's see what the Rockets do if the playoffs aren't reached again for the 5th consecutive year. Golden State will be in a rare position in a couple of years to be able to offer big contracts to premium talent. Rockets are locked up for years unless a trade is made. I think CD is going to get canned soon for putting the Rockets in this financial position.

The other side of that coin is that Yao currently may be "in the same category" too. More food for thought.

Our whole team is "in the same category" right now... we just lost.:p

Yao makes max money? Yao takes up 20% of the payroll? Yao's $4 million salary is approximately 8% of the $50 million payroll. Les Alexander is cutting big checks for a team that hasn't went to the playoffs for five straight years. If CD isn't nervous, he should be. If Steve and one of the other albatrosses weren't on the books, the Rockets would be in the running to bid for Kobe's services. Tracy McGrady is going to opt out after next season too. Tracy McGrady on the Rockets instead of Steve? I'll take it.

The bad part is the Mavs have no use for SF with Nash and Finley in place, and an NVE type of player isn't as good as Jamsion in Mavs eyes.

No, Steve lead his team to two winning seasons in the west, no playoffs, but in the tough west, that gets him respect and credibility.

I have to disagree with you. Steve had the most disappointing month of his career last year in April when we were in the middle of a play off race we should have one.

Steve has not led us to the play-offs and that is the bottom line. Steve has chocked when ever he has been in a real play off race. Perhaps there were merely growing pains and perhaps not.

Jamison is a premier scorer in this league that has just as much athleticism as Steve and is a very good rebounder. Last year Steve was one of the worst defenders to ever lace up a pair of sneakers. If JVG can turn Steve into a good defender then imagine what he can to for Jamison.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not advocating going after Jamison but he would not be a bad fit on this team. A very high energy player that can score and rebound

Cato + MoT + Mooch > than a max contract.

I'd rather have Jamison and cba scrubs than the lot of them.

Oh and Charvo, I think IROCit knows that Yao is still on his rocket contract, just that he is already considered to be a max player when that 1st contract is up.
