Going to Dallas for the weekend. What bars are there, especially around the Deep Ellum, Majesric theater, Westin hotel area?

    Live music is a plus.

Spent a lot of time at Frankie's on McKinney and Hall when I was down there last weekend. One of the better sports bars I've been to in awhile. There's also Idle Rich Pub and The Social Room, both located in the same part of uptown.

there are hit and miss spots in uptown which is north of downtown. personally, when i went to bars in dallas proper i stayed in the deep ellum area, or lower greenville. some of these places could have changed since i've been last, but i liked them, and they were generally DB free.

    trees
    poor david's pub
    club dada
    curtain club

I lived there for 2-3 years until 07, and Deep Ellum really wasn't a big music place anymore. In fact, it had become pretty shady...which was shocking b/c it was great when I was in college in the late 90's.

It all depends...there are some really great bars in Uptown with tons of hot chicks, but there are tons of cheesedick's as well in the bars. If you can just laugh at them and not let their douchery bother you, it's a great time.

Lower Greenville has some good bars with a lower douche ratio.
