That was a long break after a great game. Hopefully, the break will help the team out with their problems. I read that the team really practiced hard on running the ball and scoring in the redzone without field goals. I think remember reading Parcells had seen something in Hambrick and Bill may be able to better utilize his skills. I hope so because our running game kind of sucks, especially if you take out Cason's 63 yd run in the 1st game. Defense needs to step up on the pass rush. I read an article that talked about the Cowboys getting two sacks early against NYG, but none after, even when they KNEW they had to throw the ball and couldn't do anything else. Combined with running the ball well, a good pass rush, or at least decent, should lessen the problems we have had on defense late in games. Now for the players themselves. Carter looked very good last week, and even though he was good the week before, he needs to show that he can lead this team to 2 straight wins. I forgot the exact stat, but the Cowboys haven't won two straight in forever, and they also have been over 500 since 99, IIRC. Just getting to that spot would be tremondous for at team that's gone 5-11 for 3 years. Richie Anderson and Ryan Young are going against their former team and may feel that they need to show them something. Dan Cambell was able to do so against NYG with a catch that set up the GW FG. Plus, the Tuna himself again has some feelings in the Meadowlands especially since he coached like 12-15 of the players on the Jets, much different that the Giants game. Injuries that I know of: basically everyone is healthy. Derek Ross, from what I read, either won't start or won't even play. (leaning towards that.) He has been practicing for about 2 weeks, but he really hasn't shown Bill that he's ready, so we're stuck with Pete Hunter in the slot who still has a cast, but this one is better than the NYG game. I think Ryan Young had a small knee problem, I think sprained it or something, but he should play. Man, we need to get 500 yds offensively. Stupid Redskins took over the #1 spot in offensive yds.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I kind of found out why Lucas was at the game in NY. On the Cowboys site, it just said he was a good friends of former Cowboy Calvin Hill, father of Grant Hill for those who don't know, and he was...um...just there I guess. It really didn't explain much more, IIRC. I actually read it about a week ago, but didn't think I should bring back any of the Lucas threads just to mention this.
I'm going to be watching. One of the few games this year where I don't think they'll be the underdog. I think they'll be prepared and respond well.
I guess Ryan Young was a little more banged up than I thought. He's not starting, though I guess he may still play. edit: We seem to be running the ball a little better.
Holy crap! That was the quarter already? Man....this sucks. Seemed like the time flew by...or some phrase like that.
Just to be on topic, Cowboys Suck! Now...my real question. At the end of the Redskins game today, Coles clearlly caught a pass, took at least three steps in bounds, and then fell out of bounds with the ground causing him to lose control of the football. Can someone explain how this is an incomplete pass? Did anyone see this?
I saw it, but I had no clue on the call. I thought it was a completion, and I don't like the Redskins. Didn't seem to make any sense what the guys were saying.
I know. Simms was trying to explain it, but it just wasn't working. He kept on saying something like the receiver must "complete the process" by holding on to the ball after he falls on the ground out of bounds. I was about to strangle him. If the referrees actually made the right call, then this rule needs to be reviewed just like the "tuck rule."
Bryant almost took himself out 6 weeks with that dunk of the ball. Looked like it hurt too much for a celebration. The refs better overturn this. If they don't...
I thought they were going to screw it up. Good job refs. Dallas has been playing good and smart so far.
Maybe someone can back me up on this, but I want to say that the Cowboys have scored the same amount of offensive TDs today as they have the 1st 2 games. (2) I think it was just the 63yd run by Cason and QC's run last week. Am I missing one somewhere? Either way, Dallas has seemingly improved in the redzone area and scoring TDs. (or, the Jets just suck...badly...very badly.) Now to see if the team had improved in defending against teams trying to come back.
It wasn't that bad of a play. Effectively just a punt a down early. He had nothing to lose throwing that up there on that play. I don't think he could've made a 1st down by scrambling.
