http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_local...sts-of-people-and-places-in-dallas-fort-worth http://www.chron.com/life/photogallery/Most_hated_cities.html#24163066 Oh, lists: Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. Or maybe we should rephrase: We can definitely live without them, but magazine editors and their readers nationwide can't get enough of the "best places to fill-in-the-blank." People and places in Dallas-Fort Worth got pegged on some pretty hilarious lists, giving us notoriety we didn't necessarily want. Without further ado, our worst list of lists from the past year: 5. Dallas ranked No. 9 on "most hated cities" list: Hate is such a strong word, isn't it? The story, posted to chron.com, says Dallas is "even more big-haired and Bible Belt-y than Houston." But notice, chron.com is associated with the Houston Chronicle, and Houston didn't make the "hate" list at all. We hate them. 4. Dallas is the No. 2 ranked city for road rage: Not far from the truth. But we're not mad about it. We'll take it out on the drivers next to us today in rush hour traffic. (We also have the worst game-day traffic, apparently. Not surprising, then, that Jerry Jones is one of the most hated people in sports.) 3. Fuddruckers designated one of worst restaurant names in the country: Founded by Texas restaurateur Phil Romano, we're not proud of this one either. Even after a single beer, a slip of the tongue with the name could come way too easy. 2. Burleson named to 100 Best Communities for Young People: I'm a "young people," right? The study actually means young people, not young people. They're going for 19 and younger. I suppose it depends on what kind of under-19 kid you are, but in my teenage days, I wasn't lusting after Burleson. At least they have an H-E-B now. 1. Dallas chef Tiffany Derry makes list of Black Chefs You Should Know: Don't get us wrong; the fact that Derry is listed here is a good thing. But since the list was published, it has since disappeared off the face of the Internet, and we find that rather fishy. Derry was voted fan favorite last season on Top Chef, and we think she deserves every accolade. To heck with Black Chefs You Should Know; she goes on our Chefs You Should Know list. Or People You Should Know.
The list of hated cities is stupid and random. There is like 1 line explaining why the place was picked as well. Houston isn't incredible in itself.
Tiffany Derry's restaurant is in Dallas, but she's from Beaumont, and still calls Beaumont her home. She's just taking Dallas's money.
Hahhah, true... I've been to Dallas, it was ok I don't hate it as much as the Cowboys and Mavericks though...
Yea, I'm sure you explored every inch of the city and met every people there to have came to this.....neutral conclusion of yours. How anyone can hate an entire city is beyond me.
Like you've talked to Hitler and know all his likes and dislikes. How can you hate all of one person is beyond me.
If its the one I'm thinking about she use to work at this place that just closed called Go Fish...she was very fun and always had a smile on her face...
Austin was like #2? Nobody really hates Austin. I get annoyed with it sometimes, but you cant hate it.
Listen guys, quit crying. I don't like Dallas and have my thoughts on them, but mostly because of the city rivalry. I have no illusions there. You don't like Houston? Move if you live there. Its pretty simple really.
Totally agree... I find it really, really easy to roll my eyes at Austinites, and I'm a semi-hipster with a penchant for indie music and a far-left leaning political ideology. There's sort of a pretentious, holier-than-thou attitude that can permeate certain bars or neighborhoods. All that being said, I absolutely LOVE that town. It's beautiful, it's fun, and I've rarely had a bad time when visiting.
Houston is big-haired and bible-belty? I know we've got that Osteen church or whatever it is, but I've never met anyone who has actually been there. IOW: news to me.
This was compiled the Chron. I don't want to bad mouth Houston but I suspect "most hated" list compiled by residents of other cities Houston might be on there. When I've told people I am from Houston I've had people say things like "Its a good thing you got out of there" and "Oh, I'm sorry."
I have been in Dallas for the past 4 year, used to live in Houston, this is from my personal experience but man people in Dallas are REALLY cocky. And about the road rage, that is because people in Dallas really don't know how to drive, when I say don't know how to drive I mean drive in traffic, people over here get all extra cautious during rush hour and just make the traffic go even slower.
Meh... Matter of taste, I suppose. New York and San Francisco, IMO, great cities. While I've visited Dallas and Houston, several times, I've never lived in either (or Texas at all)...so I won't judge.
The best they could come up with was "Not everybody likes how “weird” you are, Austin. Get over it."? The Chronicle must be hurting for stories/attention to post such garbage online.
You can't swing a dead cat in the Metroplex without hitting a 3,000 member mega-church or a multi-million dollar televangelist. Dallas is the Belt Buckle of the Bible Belt, more churches per square mile than any place in the country.
This kind of made up competitive crap always makes me think people are even more petty than I thought before seeing this made up competitive crap.
