Per 740 sports flash earlier today. He also says no starters are available, but all relievers, including Lidge, can be had. (from Orange-Whoopass)

Well, the fact that discussions have actually gotten to a point to where the local media has heard about them means it has to be something significant.

Till now, the Astros have had several discussions with a lot of players (did you know they actually offered Burnett 4 years 40 million?)... but none of them were significant enough to make it to the media.

If Lidge is involved, the guy I want to see coming here is Manny. I don't feel Abreu (and his contract) are worth it.

Why would Florida want a top reliever when they are breaking up the team?

They may just want a cheap reliever.

Manny would NOT be a knucklehead in Houston... there's just not enough media coverage for him to do that. He wasn't one in Cleveland, either.

He was a knucklehead in Cleveland.

So, they shouldn't have any relievers? I'm not understanding what you're arguing here.

He has no value to them. They want prospects. And then they want position players, players that play every day. A reliever is the final piece to a championship team, not the foundation. They should be asking for a couple top notch pitching prospects plus a good, young outfielder like Hunter Pence. Lidge is only good as a trade commodity. They've already got Willis as a trading commodity. He is obviously worth more than Lidge. The only reason they take Lidge is if they get their prospects and then they can shuffle Lidge somewhere else.

That would be so badass. That and bring Willis back to Texas.

We do have more relievers than Lidge.

I'm almost certain that Florida could get a hell of alot more then cheap relievers for Willis.

With Boston looking for relief help, it very well could be Manny.

Yea, but they don't want expensive big-name contracts... they're not going to pay them.

They want prospects... and if not prospects, cheap everyday players or young releivers.

Think of them as the Cleveland Indians team on Major League... a team built to finish dead last so they can move them somehwhere else (except in the movie, they were moving to miami... kinda ironic). When they start signing guys from the California Penal league... we should all start to get worried... cause they'll be heading to the NLCS.

I'm just glad to hear about them doing something. It seems like the Stros haven't been involved in many real discussions so far this year. The offense absolutely has to improve next season.

BTW ... I would love to get Manny here. I think he'd be a great fit in Houston.

If Dalati is saying it then it is true. He is the Mark Berman of the radio and is utterly credible in every circle.

I am curious to see what comes of this.

If it's Zito and/or Abreu, I have no problem throwing Clemens a retirement party.

Manny Ramirez would be awesome but I doubt Uncle Drayton would absorb 20 mil per season. I'd be hesitant as well.
