    [...]

Meanwhile, the Lakers appear to have their sights set on signing 22-year-old forward Eddie Griffin to bolster their depleted frontcourt. Griffin, the No. 7 pick in the 2001 draft, spent his first two seasons with Tomjanovich in Houston before his life came undone.

"I'm doing everything possible trying to get him here," Tomjanovich said of Griffin. "We all are." [ :( ]

But Griffin has been in frequent trouble over the past year. He was suspended indefinitely by the Rockets last October and released in December after missing practices and a team flight to Sacramento during training camp.

Later in October, Griffin was charged with felony aggravated assault after his former girlfriend accused him of hitting her three times in the face and shooting at her in his house. He was sentenced to 18 months' probation in March after pleading guilty to misdemeanor deadly conduct.

Griffin has been treated for depression, alcoholism and substance abuse over the past year at three different facilities. He also was convicted of misdemeanor mar1juana possession in January and spent 11 days in jail in February after being accused of violating a court-ordered curfew.

But Griffin is a risk the Lakers are willing to take, general manager Mitch Kupchak said, especially without Malone.

I wish I could say that I want him to succeed, even if it's with another team, but I can't. It would be painful to see him do well after having invested so much emotionally in him.

As much as I liked EGriffin's potential, there is always something odd about him. I cann't pin it... but maybe his stony look...

Oh God, now he is with Fakers.

Nothing like Cali/LA life with Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom to get a guy like EG on the right path. :)

Hayes. Malone. Tomjanovich. Murphy. Sampson. Olajuwon. Floyd. Thorpe. Maxwell. Horry. Smith. Cassell. Drexler. Barkley. Willis. Francis. Mobley. Griffin.

    I enjoyed them all.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, go 2004 Rockets!

I wonder since Rudy is still his coach whether he'll keep drifting around the perimeter.

That'll probably work since both of them like to get physical with women...whether it may be by grabbing them by the neck or by gunpoint.

    *low blow*

Rudy still believes in the guy. This just proves if Rudy wasn't fired Eddie would still be on this team. This should vindicate all of the Rudy haters. If Eddie turns out to be a bust in LA then getting rid of Rudy and Eddie was the right thing.

But if Eddie turns out to be a player...

I agree. I think Rudy is more forgiving that JVG. I guess that can be good and bad. It can be good that it gives people second chances which are a good thing. No one is perfect. On the other hand if you give someone TOO much rope they end up hanging themselves.

I personally wished we would have given Griffin another chance. But oh well.

I think Steve Francis a lot more to do with getting rid of Rudy than Eddie has or every will.
Hmmm, EG with Odom( constant pothead), Butler(ex-felon), and Kobe(who doesn't like to hang with anyone). LOL. Yeah, that's a good influence on him.

I wonder how many JVG haters would be chiming in if he brought an Ex-Knick player as troublesome as Eddie to the Rockets?
