What's the best HS Basketball play/dunk/anything that you have seen in person? Man, today was my day to see some amazin stuff. I had heard of this guy they had at Eisenhower on the Freshman A-Team they called him "Smoke" We played Ike today and beat em (By we, I mean the B-Team.) 54-51. That's pretty damn good considering they blew us out by 32 pts last time. So anyways, our A-Team was playing them and were getting beat by 8 with about 3 minutes left and Smoke gets a steal, breaks our A-Team's starting PG's ankles (He goes flying into our bench) Then drives 84 ft. all the way to the basket and jumps from about halfway between the free throw line and the out-of-bounds line and goes for a WINDMILL layup and makes it over our 6-3 Center, 6-2 power forward, and 6-1 Small forward. That was CRAZY. Anyone else seen some crazy stuff in their time?

I would have liked to see that. I've never seen any great high school plays.

3 games ago my team was down 3 with 18 seconds left, our pg brought up the ball kicked out our sg for the tying shot, the attempt missed but I grabbed the board and called time. Now with 2 sec left I was threw the ball to our pg who hit the 3 falling out of bounds. It might not of been the best play I've seen but it was an incredible game.

In my last game in High School (I played on a YMCA team... I sucked, ok?) we played a team 4 on 5, and beat the snot out of them. And this was with everyone of their position players having a height advantage over the respective positions on our team.

How did we start a game with fewer than 5 players, you ask? Well, I will tell you.

The 5th player was there, but his leg was broken, and he was on crutches, so he got out on the floor to start the game (then we had 5), and as soon as the tip went up, he hobbled off the court, and we proceeded to whip this team senseless, and they dragged their sorry *sses off the court, with their heads bowed, and tails between their legs.

I know it is not one play, but it was the most amazing game I ever took part in. [IMG]

Actually, this was when I was in 4th Grade. I stepped unto the court just a 4th Grader against guys who were in 6th Grade. Nobody knew how good I was. My teammates had little confidence in me. Due to my team being short-handed, I started at point guard. I scored 6 points and grabbed 2 rebounds in 18 minutes of playing time. The reason why I did not play all 24 minutes was because the rules said that everyone on the team must get playing time. The team captain did not feel like pulling me out the game because I was playing very impressive, but we had to obey the rules. I was surprised that I played so good in my first organized basketball league. I was second on the team for point total in that game. Two years later my Gym teacher became so impressed that he signed me up for the basketball team again. I provided a nice spark off the bench. I played defense, rebound the ball well, take charges and anything to help the team win. We won the championship that year. Instead of champagne to celebrate, my teammates and I celebrated with Apple Cider. Later we had a pizza party. Those were some of my greatest memories in playing organized basketball.

Let's hope you didn't have champaigne.
My favorite team was back in 8th grade, we just got along so well. It was really fun to be part of that team.

I have seen some amazing games in high school

i have seen some disturbing teams play.

There is one team on long island (which my fantesy basketball team is named after) The Bridghampton Killer Bees which forced the reorganization of HS basketball in NY state.

out where i live on the east end of long island there are not alot of people living year round. there are a ton of summer residents, and lots of old people. so all the schools have small enrollments. this hasbeen changing alot lately, but i graduated with 22 other is my class, and there were definately smaller schools. there are years when schools didnt have enough for a full JV team, and Bridghampton was one of the smallest. the players on the team were rarely over 5 feet, their bench was usually 2n kids, and they never had a JV program(this has changesd recently)

out here in the hamptons there are the Haves(easthampton southampton montauk sag harbour) and the HAVE NOTS(Bridghampton) this is where all of the workers lived it is a mostly ethnic community which untill recently was conciders an undesireable adress. now the land is over $500k/acre
anyway they always had a great basketball team. they always beat all of the other D class schools, went to county championships and beat all the C class schools, than beat all the big B and A and AA and AAA class schools at the state level. they changed the ruled because the Bees wold destroy these schools with enrollments of 20,000 when Bridghampton only has 50-75 kidds

now they are only allowed to play in the D class championship at states. they have won 5 out of the last 6 years. and they are awsome with the fundamentals. also these 5'5" guys doing sick Aly oops, and 360s just a great team to watch

No, we did not have champaigne. I had a great time! I was very excited! As soon as the final seconds of the championship game ended, I ran up and down the court to celebrate. I drank some apple cider. I threw some on my teammates and some people watching the game. We also cut the net off the rim. It was very fun! I wish I can have another memory like that.

Being able to see Rashard play back in high school would have been fun. I can only imagine how dominating he was.

I got to wtch a HS basketball tournament a few years back to watch a team from WV of all places. They had 2 studs on the team. One fancy PG and one high-flying wing-forward. They put on quite a show!
The PG is Jason Williams and his buddy was Randy Moss. Still can't believe those 2 are both from WV.

I once started point guard in the championship game of a tournament, and we were getting killed. (they had a big height advantage) They were winning by like 18 at the half. But as the game progressed, I kept changing positions to get closer to the basket. (really their center was killing us, a friend of mine actually) By about halfway through the second half I was playing center. (at 5'10", it was kind of funny) But I have a knack for guarding big guys.

I almost fouled out, and I only scored 4 points the whole game, but I had like 17 rebounds and a couple of block (no lie), and we came back to win the game on a last minute steal and layup. (I rushed the PG)

It was the most amazing game I've ever played in.

    VERY IMPORTANT!

A good friend of mine is the head basketball coach at Texas City High School. His team is currently 29-1 and ranked 3rd in state in 4A.

His team will be featured on channel 11 news at 5 and 10 tonight (Thursday) as the "Team of the Week"

His name is Rick Nordstrom, and he is quite a character. Watch for him tonight!
