@daldridgetnt: Sources: Rockets, at the moment, taking a pass ($) on Dalembert, leaving return to Kings as s possibility.

    http://eye-on-basketball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/33970145

"...What about the Rockets? Aren't they about to offer Dalembert? NBA.com reports that the Rockets are "taking a pass" on Dalembert for the moment, which leaves the door open for a return to Sacramento. The other teams in the running have been the Heat and maybe the Timberwolves, but it's looking unlikely that either of those would really be in the mix.

With the market being so thin but two teams in desperate need of Dalembert's rebounding and shot blocking, the prize is being driven up and down at the same time. Dalembert was one of the more overpaid players last season, but could certainly be a major impact player for whoever he signs for.

The Rockets saying they're moving on means that they haven't been able to get Dalembert to their number and are hoping that he'll see how thin the market is and come back to accept their offer. At least that's how I'd guess this is going down."

Let's just pass on the season, while we're at it. So... who are we going to draft?!

    :(

thanks for not putting this in the Dalembert thread. It is so hard to track this stuff in huge threads.

And I vote for passing, too, for $ reasons.

We better be making a trade soon then, if not, i wouldn't understand why we wouldn't sign him to at least a one year deal. We are trying to make the playoffs and i don't see how he would do anything but help the team achieve that goal.

Maybe Hayes will be back as a 15 min per game player and a good role model for the younger guys until we either make a trade or get to the draft

We are the best team not in the playoffs as it stand now. What is the point spending money on player that will take time away from our centers who need minutes on the court desperately? Dalembret would be an good pickup but wouldn't make us that much better. If we end up picking up, ok; if we don't, eh *shurg*.

This is good news. I don't want Dalembert here unless it's on the cheap.

Let's not depress each other. You know what is depressing...I was happy Stern blocked the one player in the league I hate, and I'm happy to say screw Dalembert if he wants too many years, and I'm so freaking sad about Chuck, and I think I'm convinced maybe my least favorite Rocket (TWill) needs more playing time...and we are back to a 9th seed based on what I wanted to happen with each offseason proposal, yet have nothing to offer myself.

    I'm depressed.

I just want Chuck back now.

You to Doc? Wow! Hating spreads like a disease!
Not so fast. This team is better than you think. I am glad that they may be passing on Dallie. It's time for our youth to take over that 5 spot.;)

    Hill/Thabeet/Smith/Pats/Adrien FTW baby!!

I imagine the Rockets offered him more than he'd get anywhere else per year, but only with 1 year guaranteed. Its obvious he'd rather take less in a long-term deal.

    That's scary to me.

He'd get the chance to be the full-time starter on a potential playoff team. A team with real parts around it. He could be this years Tyson Chandler and drive up his value significantly in 2012 -- a year when everyone will have cap space.

Instead, he prefers the comfort of a long-term deal.

    Bad sign.

As a 5yr season tix holder, I hate to hear the the Rockets are backing out of their interest of SammyD. Under no circumstance would he hurt this team. From a player development standpoint, he is a NBA vet who has played in several playoff games and even a finals game w/ Philly (if i remember correctly). Him being on this team will give us the size and presence that Thabeet and Hill can not give. Craig Smith is unproven and can not be relied on at this point in his career. Sammy would help solve the problem that could have helped get us into the playoff last year.

From a long term perspective, He could also be packaged in a deal for someone else, especially if he has a bargin/short term contract.

I personally would rather see SammyD play the 5 than Hill or Thabeet. Our team would be significantly better if SammyD played with Scola and Hill played with PPat. It just makes for a more productive team. Young guys still get minutes, winning/hard working culture stays, nba vets on our team get immediate help, and rockets could sneak into playoffs.

He has to be asking for way to much even if he was offered a one year deal with team option on the 2nd year. I would guess he probably wants about $10-$12 million a year and that is outrageous. If Sacramento doesn't sign him then I would have to assume he will either lower his price big time or accept a MLE from some other team

He wants more than a 1 year deal. Morey does not want to be tied to him for more than a year or two I guarantee you that. He would just be a stop gap C for now. He is not somebody we want to build around. Seeing how Hill played the other night im sure that made Morey take a 'let's wait and see' how our young bigs do.

I don't think Sammy would make us that much better where it would be worth signing him to a multi year deal and limiting our flexibility. Let's just roll with what we got.

it's all about leverage. If no other team offers him a big contract then he'll come back and talk.
Thinking we only offered 5-6Mil per year..3 year deal 3rd yr partial guaranteed is my guess..

    There was areported $9M multi-year deal. I'd guess a 2 year $4.5M/yr contract.
