How did I miss this show when it originally appeared? HBO is airing the first set of episodes all in a row tonight and I just watched the first one. Freaking hilarious! I guess I'll be up till about 12:00 AM because that is when the shows end. I'm definitely going to watch the upcoming season which they say is coming soon.
It's some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen on TV...the gay Austrian reporter is a riot, as well as that guy from Kazachstan or something...and the interviews are just so funny. I actually recently started a thread about this as well .
Whoa, thanks for reminding me. I KNEW there was something on HBO worth watching tonight. That's a rarity on that channel when Sopranos is on a break.
"How come some bones grow in a few seconds, three or more inches sometimes." That's a question he asked the former General Surgeon. I have also seen many, many other questions he has asked top world officials. HILARIOUS!
Any one else here was a big enough Ali G fan to see the movie and start a thread about it Wish I had HBO, but I prolly can still get eps from kazaa or somewhere.
This may sound like a dumb question for those of you that have been watching the show but does the same guy play all three main characters?
Yes, he does. The show is funny, and I was initially turned off to the show because he was in a Madonna video, and the hype around it was annoying. I watched the show and it was hilarious. It is really funny. I'm curious how he gets all the interviews.
Thread is really old, no reason to merge - just wanted to let you see the posts of some others who also liked the show . It's interesting that someone is asking if it is the same guy playing all three characters - because I think he does it so well that they really seem like three different persons. The guy behind it is called "Sacha Baron Cohen", a Jewish Cambridge graduate - very far removed from the Ali G character, actually. While one might think at first that the humor is dumb, I think that's not the case at all...especially in the interviews, he really makes people reveal their true colors...just by playing stupid and asking seemingly dumb questions...
Can't wait for season 2 this sunday. He got James Lipton and Ralph Nader to do a little rap, that had me lmao.
He is hilarious, the only problem is that once he gets popular he can't do his schtick anymore. No one in England will take his interviews because they know about him. DD
Ba, Beckham and Posh went on and they knew what they were getting into. It was great. I think people will like being made fun of every now and then. He's just a little bit of Jay Leno extreme.
The Beckham and Posh episode was unbelievably funny. Anyway, hasn't Sacha Baron Cohen stopped doing Ali G a while ago already? Everything that is shown now are re-runs, right?
