D-Wade Disrespects Canada, Practices During Their National Anthem

They're not even a real country anyway

 

It's the NBA: National Basketball Association. Canada should not have any teams. Nor Mexico or anyone else. To me, Wade is holding to the true intent of the NBA: to be the US's premier basketball association.

Let's be real. That's stupid as hell of Wade.

If any foreign player did this during the national anthem there would be hordes of people losing their mind.

Pretty stupid move

 

Pretty much this. He can hear the anthem being played and see the other players standing at attention. His excuse that the rearranging the order seems fairly lame.

 

He'll get a small fine and that's about it.
Would be madness if he got suspended a game or something.

 

They aren't gonna suspend him for a playoff game, but he better get a big fine. That was an extremely tacky thing to do. You don't have to show reverence for the anthem, but to just carry on ignoring it like that is unacceptable.

 

Yeah at least Abdul-Rauf stood up for the National Anthem. It's pretty blatantly disrespectful to be out and active during it. Even if it is just Canada.

 

He should be fined. Imagine if a foreign player did this during the American anthem. The comment section takes would be hot enough to power the country for the rest of the playoffs.

That said, does anybody else think our insistence on performing the national anthem before every single event somewhat cheapens it? Why must the NBA playoffs, minor league baseball games, college soccer games and middle school football games all begin with the Star Spangled Banner? Save it for our national teams who truly represent our country.

 

The idea of a national anthem is r****ded. That said, Wade wasn't making that type of statement. My guess is that he is too stupid to realize he was not just disrespecting the Raptors but was disrespecting an entire nation. Bad form.

They only play the Canadian anthem when they play one team in the entire league. That's weird that a foreign team comes in and a Heat fan is singing the country's anthem in the Miami arena.
