Now that he's getting some consistent minutes the past 9 games, he's putting up decent numbers for a young player: Over the past 9 games, he's averaged about 21 minutes per game, and put up: 7.3 PPG 6.4 RPG 0.7 SPG 0.4 BPG .520 FG .400 3Pt FG That's a really nice improvement over his play early in the regular season. DMo has a lot of potential, and is only 23. I hope we don't fire sale him, (or TJones - age 22), for a mediocre rental. It's been fun watching these two young bigs develop and increase their contribution this season.
Love his improvement but this is a double edge sword. I don't want to lose him but the Asik + Dmo trade combo has increased it's market value due to his consistently improving play.
He's not really stepping up he has just been given minutes. 90% of Clutchfans was screaming play DMO, just like we were screaming lay Jones last year, Mchale is slow.
AB and Dmo are the only two bench players right now (and Lin) that I can expect some decent production out of that are going to be critical. I do not know what happened to Garcia. Cassipi certainly fooled us in the preseason. And dork Asik, I just do not know what the flip his issue is right now. He is not being traded, and he doesn't play.
I'm ok with asik coming back and playing backup center unless we can get upgrade at backup center + something in a trade. Dmo needs to start getting some of casspi mins and casspi can back up parsons if Garcia doesn't get back straight. But we still need a more consistent 3 guy at backup SF.
The stats you provided were for 21 minutes of play. Were DMo to play 36 minutes per game, which is what TJones generally plays, these would be his averages: 12.5 ppg 11.0 rpg And it's my opinion that DMo doesn't get nearly enough post up opportunities, either; so you can add a few more points on in addition were he to be more of a focal point on the offense.
We are not likely to get much more value in exchange for them. I say keep D-Mo, and try to move Asik plus a filler with some future promise like Covington.
Keep them and they might soar higher! Sure a Millsap will be better right now, but it's not likely to take us all the way to a championship either.
D-Mo's rebounding stats have grown tremendously. A double double tonight in Dallas. He's almost as good a rebounder as T. Jones 'cause he boxes out and doesn't go for blocks all the time. His defense leaves much to be desired, he's still a welcome mat at the rim.
DMo is and has been the best offensive post player on the team for 2 seasons now. It's ridiculous that it has taken this long for him to get consistent on a team that is horrendous with their half-court offense, and whether that blame rests on McHale or Morey...I don't know.
I like the dude a lot, but 19% from the arch and his defense (although he did great tonight on Dirk Diggler), will continue to limit his minutes here. Unless... we post him up more and he continues to impress with that 7'0 unblockable hook shot
DMO really adds to the offense overall. he is very smooth at switch the field of play and is a good passer. he is also our best screener, IMO. our guards seem to have more space when Dmo is setting picks.
