http://www.sltrib.com/ci_4014237 The Jazz and Golden State have reached an agreement in principle on a four-player trade that would bring veteran point guard Derek Fisher to Utah. The Salt Lake Tribune has learned - barring an unexpected hitch - the Jazz will send Devin Brown, Keith McLeod and Andre Owens to the Warriors in exchange for Fisher, a 10-year veteran who has been a member of three world championship teams.
Utes just another playoff contender with every reason to believe they'll be playing in May. The West is deep with capable teams. The East is top heavy, but the West? Count your ping pong balls you 4 - 5 teams who might even have home court in the East.
Nice move by the Jazz to pick up a veteran PG to play behind Deron Williams. The Jazz will be factors come playoff time.
pretty expensive for a backup point guard who had his best year of his career last year. he won't be getting better. but they did give up nobodies for someone who has had a proven career.
Unless the Jazz feel like they’re in “win-now” mode, I don’t see how taking on Fisher and his contract helps them out much. This does give me hope that perhaps the Rockets will find someone to take Juwan off our hands. His contract is a year shorter than Fisher, he’s only a year older, and he was as productive as Fisher last season.
Fine line? Besides Paul, was there a better rookie point guard last year? How about the year before, or the year before that? It's a difficult position, and I think, statwise, he met all reasonable expectations. It's too early to say he'll be an all-star, but worrying about him being a bust seems equally unwarranted.
Yeah...Deron Williams was one of the few rookies last season that actually had a better season than Luther Head. Just because he's been living in Chris Paul's shadow doesn't mean he's a scrub...that kid's a mighty fine player.
