We should know tommorow whether or not Dunleavy and Borchardt stay in the draft.

If they do, we could get an Amare or Nachbar there.

If not, we might end up with a reach at sf(Prince, Chris Jeffries) or best available(Haislip, Ely). Probably be better to trade the pick if that's the case.

My gut tells me they'll stay in, of course my gut also tells me I need some cookies, so take it as you will.

Dunleavy to forgo his senior season

    By: TDD Staff
    Date: June 18, 2002

Though he has until tomorrow afternoon to make his official decision, it seems that Mike Dunleavy has in fact already weighed his options and will remain in the NBA Draft.

The decision comes as little surprise with Dunleavy being projected to be no worse than a top four pick. Sources close to the Dunleavy camp indicated that Mike has already informed Coach Krzyzewski of the decision.

Dunleavy becomes the sixth Blue Devil to leave school early, and third this year behind teammates Jay Williams and Carlos Boozer. The first trio of early departures included Elton Brand, William Avery, and Corey Maggette after the 1999 season.

As a junior the 6-foot-10 forward averaged 17.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Dunleavy burst onto the national scene during his sophomore season by hitting three big threes against Arizona to propel Duke to a third national title.

He was projected as a favorite for ACC and National Player of the Year honors had he returned for his senior season.

With the departure of Dunleavy, Duke will now rely more heavily on incoming freshmen Shelden Williams and Shavlik Randolph, both of whom will contend for the starting big forward position.

Dunleavy's early defection also means that Duke will start the 2002-2003 campaign without last year's top three scorers (Williams, Boozer, and Dunleavy) who combined to average 56.8 points and 19.4 rebounds per game.

kickass!! Thanks for the info Houstone, I had not seen that. Dunleavy was the main guy I was concerned about. It sounds like Borchardt is pretty much set on being in the draft.

Nice, I can start setting my mock now.

Matt Jackson also said that tomorrow is the day Memphis can make a decision on the pick as well.

I thought they already stated that they didn't want it this year? Of course they could change their minds, but I'm not so sure giving up the #15 would be a slam dunk move for Houston.

Doesn't that mean that Memphis has to tell the Rockets by tomorrow if they're willing to take it,but that the Rockets don't have to give it?
