This will be the Match up to Watch This weekend. Let's put in the built in Caveats E.Manning is on a batter team - Better Running game - Better Line but It won't be about better stats or even Game Outcome but Who is managing/controling/leading his team best E.Manning is in his 2nd Yr D Carr is in his 5th This will be the Match up for this week Rocket River If Sage sees the field. . . Unless it is a route. . . D.Carr is in big trouble
did you really expect us to discuss this in the Texans vs Giants thread? Lowered expectations man, lowered expectations.
Frankly, I'm a little David Carr'ed out. Actually, a lot. Thank God for the Rockets. 10 hours until GAME TIME, BABY!!
Im right there with you...i cant enter another one of those threads. In fact, I dont want to deal with football right now. Its basketball season.
To watch: Will Carr respond like a man or brat to his benching. Will Eli carve up our safeties like a pumpkin or turkey. It's not even worth the comparison right now. Eli is emerging as one of the top QBs in the game, while Carr's game has to be managed so he doesn't self destruct. Carr won't ever reach Eli's status. His ceiling is more on par with Drew Brees. Evan
Eli to this point has been overrated. He has lost many games for the Giants the last 3 years where sound QB play would have lead them to win. He might end up being an elite QB, but he is no where close yet. But with the Giants stout defense, stout OL, outstanding running backs, and big WR targets--Eli just has to be average for the Giants to be among the top of the NFC teams.
You see Eli as a game manager? or trying to hard? I have not seen enough of Eli to make a decision but he seems to get a lot of good press Is he like Big Ben in Pittsburgh. . . just needs to not make a mistake Rocket River
Eli has been known for starting out the season really hot and gradually playing worse each week. There could be other factors, like the fact the Giants play in one of the windiest stadiums, or occasional poor coaching. Eli has put up decent numbers this year, one of the top quarterbacks, but this whole losing in the first half and coming back in the second has to stop. Eli is certainly not his brother, and may never be, but I can't agree that is he overrated. His targets can be a little off sometimes, but he can air it out down the field very very nicely.
Carr can't even hold Eli's jock...Granted, I wish we had the Giants D, but we don't and it'll take another year for us to get better...
the only way Eli can get better is to throw to Armani Toomer more often. Spoiler Just b/c Toomer's on my fantasy team, that statement was totally unbiased.
Eli is proof positive of what happpens when a SOUND football organization drafts a young QB and brings him along properly. That did not happen with David in even the remotest sense. He's also playing on a team with much better talent on both sides of the ball than is carr so one would expect his numbers to be much better. Those who argue that he's merely "average" are missing the point entirely because rest assured, this guy is anything but average and is well on his way to being a top flight QB for years to come. He is now what Carr would have been had he not fallen into Capers-Casserly hell.
Could be true. But at this point all we know is Carr is still struggling. Thats why I say move him (for his sake and the Texans). We finally cut the cord with Casserly and Capers, time to do the same with Carr.
This may or may not be true. He is in one of the most advantagous situations in the league. He has had an excellent start this year, yes. But let's see what happens when Tiki retires and when they get injuries or other retirees (OL, Strahan, etc), and/or if he gets banged up. Just look at Big Ben now that he has taken some physical shots, his team is struggling to run the ball, and has losing some offensive weapons--he has flat sucked way worse than Carr so far this year. Are Big Ben and Eli mere drivers of the bus or franchise QBs--they jury is still out for me. Would those teams be any worse with Carr in there, I doubt it so long as he listen to instructions to play conservative and tries not try to force plays, as how both Eli and Ben have followed during their effective times.
Are you kidding? The matchup to watch this weekend? That's the Cowboys-Redskins game. The best rivalry in the NFL. The only thing to watch with the texans-nyg is if Carr gets benched for the second and final time.
