I hardly start any threads but with the pending trade of Juwan for MJ happening soon, it leaves us with just Chuck at PF assuming we resign him.

With Adelman as head coach and everything I've seen about Cwebb leaving Detroit, would he be a good fit for Houston now and is there any chance of him landing in Houston?

The PF minutes would have to be split between Cwebb and Chuck but it could work, but what's the best deal for Cwebb? Is the MLE asking too much or would Houston look to get Cwebb with the Vet's min?

if we do sign him with the mle, it better not be 5-6 years contract. i'd sign him for 3 years and a team option

I'm inclined to think all things are pointing to a Cwebber to Houston scenario. Chris knows he will be in a system that be playing to he's strengths.coach adelman and chris are gonna be a match made in heaven sign him for the 1.2 million Vet minimum and trade battier and the 26 pick for Artest and were set. also try to get something for alston and a luther head packiage for someone like a nick collison or a another solid backup C.

    PG:Ridnour/James/
    SG:Tracy/Bonzi
    SF:Artest/Bonzi
    PF:Webber/Hayes
    C:Yao/Collison/Deke

offensively, his game would mesh with yao's since Cwebb is really more of a mid range jumper guy, defensively it would be a disaster with Yao picking up 3 fouls before halftime every game due to having to slide over on Cwebb's guy who will blow past him every single time.

He is an upgrade over J-Ho and Hayes, even at this stage of his career, and he knows the offense.

If they can get him fairly inexpensively, I would think they have to look hard at Webber.

Certainly true. Hopefully if he is signed they can play a solid team defense to compensate for him.

dude...if adelman says he wants to make it easier for yao and tmac, webber would be ideal for the cheap. the guy is a GOOD distributor at his position! Hard to come by with the whole size+court vision

webber for the LLE seems about fair. i don't think he'd take the vet min just yet. his first two choices (pistons, knicks) will be sure to offer at least the LLE.

on O he is the best fit at PF we can find. great midrange game, great passer.

defensively he struggles, but lets assume that we use webber to backup yao for 12 minutes a game, and then hayes for another 12. webber gets his 24 minutes, and the yao/webber combo only plays together for 12.

If we sign him, his role will be exactly the same as JHo -- sub along side of Deke. But why would he want to join Rockets?

I agree with the getting him on the cheap scenario. But it's never really worked out well when we've had Yao, Tmac, and a scoring PF on the floor at the same time. You have to admit that Juwan can still hit an outside jumper decently well, but he never worked well with Yao and Tmac on the floor (or even him and Yao without Tmac). Yao really needs protection defensively, so I'd say we really need a defensive PF on the floor when Yao is in.

That means two things: CWebb wouldn't be starting, and he would have limited minutes. I can't see him going for that. He could go somewhere else and start. And I think starting him with Yao and Tmac wouldn't yield very productive results.

    But that's just me. :p

if we do sign CWebb, would this break some sort of record for having most Michigan forwards on a team in last 10 years?

if the pistons are going in a new direction this summer as dumars stated, webb needs to find a new team.

how many other teams out there will be as attractive to an aging PF?

the bulls, mavs, heat, nets, knicks (webber mentioned them as a possibility), the suns (if they move thomas).

out of 7 teams including us, take out the teams that don't have a chance at a serious playoff run (nets, knicks, heat). with the mavs or suns he would see 12 minutes a game, but have a chance at a championship. with the bulls he would be thier only post scorer (something he doesn't want on his shoulders at this stage of his career). the rockets seem like the team that can give him minutes with a reduced role (like in DET) and still have a good chance at upsetting for the championsihp.

Would love Webber as a backup that gets plenty of minutes.

But I'm really hoping the rockets can land a more long term "safe" player with the MLE.

If we can get him for the LLE or the vet minimum though, then that would be gravy.

if the rockets land artest which would make shane expendable... then move shane for a wilxoc/haslem type... i'd sign webb to be the reserve and consider this offseason to be one of the greatest in recent memory.
