Cuttino Mobley is a good player. BUT HE THINKS HE IS AN AWESOME PLAYER. Golly...everytime Yao or Eddie sets a pick for him, Yao is somewhat open. And Cuttino Mobley never passes!!! I don't know if he's too focused on trying to score on his man...but he is terrible! I can't believe he used to be a point guard. He has terrible timing on passes. He is probably the only player on our team who holds the ball for more than 5 seconds....motionless. He is undersized. He is a good shooter. And he is also a good defender...sometimes. But I think we should let him go if we can get somebody like Brent Barry or Lamar Odom. What do you think? Is he a cancer? Or is he a valuable piece of the Rockets?

He can't get with the program, and from Doc Rocket's TONE, I personally ASSUMED that he is not happy taking a backseat to the stars.

He is valuable. But not to us.

i disagree, i think cuttino's a good and underrated player, but again he is an under-sized shooting guard and that's the big negative with cuttino and his defense is weak and not a great passer into the post. opposing two guards like ray allen or jerry stackhouse or kobe because of their size can score on him all day. the other negative with cuttino is that he doesn't always knock down open jumpers and can either get really cold or really hot. he's a streak shooter, which is good coming off the bench, but we do need to get a bigger shooting guard with a more consistent outside shot if we want to get to the playoffs and actually contend for a title. also it'll allow mobley to get a rest and not play too many minutes and get burned out. he'll be more effective that way.

If he ever learned to be a good passer he would be a very good player. He's just too much of a black hole right now.

But one thing is for sure. He'll keep getting 40 minutes per game!!

His defense is definitely not weak. He probably has the best on-the-ball defense on the team besides Hawk. He moves laterally very well and the only reason he doesn't get more steals as Posey does in the passing lanes is because he simply does not have the size. Our only guard with defensive problems is Steve who at times gets caught watching the ball flat footed with no idea where his man is. As far as Mobley being a streak shooter, I find this to be incorrect. With the one exception of the two or three games following the all star break, I don't actually remember him going through a slump. It may appear that he does in a box score since from time the time he takes many shots where the clock has run down or he is not in good scoring position.

I'm trying to figure this out, the Rockets are on their way to the playoffs, Mobley is playing well and PASSING well, including a recent game with 7 assists, the Rockets just beat playoff contender Golden State on the road, and all people can do are start up threads talking about how he doesn't fit here and trade him? What in the world, am I missing something here? Did you watch the game, Mobley was passing to Yao, including a pass for a jam. Many of Yao's 7 assists a few games ago was to Yao.

Yao cannot assist himself. If he passes to himself and score, it won't count as assist. :)

    Heh...

Well I am very sorry for starting this thread.

But even though we won....it looks ugly to see Cuttino Mobley. His turnovers are horrible. When we lose....he looks the worst (besides Moochie). Yes...many times.....he brings us back. He is the most consistent. He is always going to score. But I hope he can adjust. He should not be taking the most shots. Our offense should be balanced....with Yao and Steve and Mo Taylor and Eddie and Mobley taking the most shots.

But Mobley seems too arrogant to change...

As opposed to Kobe Bryant or Steve Francis's turnovers, which are beautiful to watch?

No, but whenever Cuttino Mobley commits a turnover, it just pisses me off because he's so stupid. His always look worse.

FINE. Hopefully he will be able to adjust. But it doesn't seem like it. He is a scorer. But we can trade him for another scorer.

He means the turnovers he does cause is because of very bad and stupid, avoidable decisions. When he's on the fast break, his best bet is to keep it because most likely if he passes it, unless its a 2 on 1 or a 3 on 1 or 3 on 2, then he will turn it over when he passes it. Simple as that.
