I skipped that bullsh_t chapel service at SJS for pretty much the entire time I was in high school (89-92)... what a complete waste of time. Met some cute Lamar girls in the process though... ;)

KF 91 here. Used to skip and hang out at the arcade there that was owned by the old Indian guy and play street fighter 2 all damn day.

He would just seem to walk by just when someone would get knocked out and say "you lose."

Hmmm, in my high school, 3 unexcused absences or 15 absences of any sort can drop you a grade. I think that's what they said, but maybe it was just something to scare us?

I remember skipping school to play Gauntlet.

I remember 6 unexcused absences got you a 50 with a * next to it.

I got a lot of those my junior year. It's amazing I graduated on time.

I`m not sure. I know the theatre is still there because about a month ago I went by it and was surprised it was still up. Its really changed alot in the last 20 years. I grew up in Greenwood Forest and I went back and looked at the house I grew up in and then went and checked out KF and Wunderlich for old times sake......that was weird ;)

Anyone can skip school, but can you skip school without skipping?

At CyFair HS my senior year (Fall 99 I think), we had a big ass bomb threat, and they weren't letting any of the kids in the school until they had searched it or until the place blew up. So they told all of us to hang out in the parking lot if you didn't have a ride, but if you did have wheels, you could go do whatever and be back by some certain time without penalty.

Well, my next door neighbor decided at the last minute she wasn't going to stick around for ANY school that day, and so I gave her a ride home cuz what the hell else was I gonna do? So we get to her house and she's getting out of my car when my dad comes out of the house to go to work.... And I see him, and I hope to God that he's not "with it" yet and he doesn't notice. WRONG! He gets in his truck and he follows me all the way to school, and as I get out of my car and start walking to class, he jumps out of his car and corners me and is about to lay into me when I tell him ever so calmly what the deal is. And he looks at me with that if-you're-lying-you're-f'ing-dead look and says "OK we'll see what the front office says about all this" So I say, "allright, but I'm going to class now. I can't be late"

And sure enough he goes to the front office and he finds out that I wasn't lying, and he should feel like a complete jackass... But somehow I'm still in the wrong for leaving campus and coming back in time....

    Yep!

Senior year I was a teacher's aid for the drama department. Anytime we didn't want to go to a class the drama teacher would just write us a note saying we were doing something for the department (building sets, hanging lights). He was a pretty cool teacher and we got out of a LOT of classes!

And missile command was THE game boys!

Gauntlet. The summer after my sophmore year at Sam, I worked at "Games People Play" on 1960. After we shut down for the night, we'd enter 99 credits for each character and play for hours. Just recently picked up a used copy of Midway Treasures for PS2 cuz it has Gauntlet on it (and the skater game, 720).

The best I could do was skip first period senior year cuz I was an office aid second period and could trash the attendance slip. Klein Oak, '86

I forgot about Missile Command. Simple game, but GREAT. For you whippersnappers out there who haven't taken a look at the old stuff, you really should. Mario Bros., Moon Patrol, Pole Position..all simple but challenging.

I know what I am doing this rainy weekend.

I skipped school so much for that reason, that later on in H.S., I would show up anywhere from Greenspoint Mall down to West Oaks Mall and all the malls in between and run into people who would beg me not to play them. :D

    Ha-Do-Ken. Ha-Do-Ken. Ha-Do-Ken. Ha-Do-Ken.

    Booo.....

For me, it was all about Blanka and E.Honda. Fun characters without the cheese.

Anyway, yeah, I cut class a few times; mostly in grade 12, to sleep.

And back in the day it was all about Tron and Breakout, baby!!

Actually, my trick was to jump up and kick them in the face, then duck and jab at their legs.

It pissed my friends off big time because it was a boring move, but it would beat them 90% of the time.

If you knew me, you'd know why that was funny.

E Honda was the crappiest of characters. Blanka was fun, tho. I had a friend who's favorite was Zangief. That spinning piledriver was just nasty, but I never really mastered it.

I liked E Honda. Besides the fast chops he could lunge at you too, kinda like Bison did (of course Bison was charged when he lunged).
