First reported by SR610. Confirmed sprained knee by Chron.com and John McClain

He was sent to the hospital last night. No official results back of MRI. Kubiak says he dont expect to see Cushing back anytime soon. They're changing everything up and are moving guys around. They cant pinpoint when it happened. Cushing was wearing a knee brace and was carted off. Cato June also has a knee injury. They cant bring anyone in because they "wont fit what theyre doing" or something along those lines.

Here's how its looking right now:

    Diles - Strong Side
    Ryans - Middle
    Adibi - Weak Side

    (All via SR610)

I hope the injury bug isnt out. Reeves, Meyers, June, Cushing.

Why are we always ravaged with injuries like this!

I don't get it. What are we doing in practice that causes this that other teams don't do? I know guys can get hurt in practice...but going back to last year we've now had Diles (freak injury), Cushing, Myers, and Reeves all hurt significantly in practice. WTF.

The good news is Diles and Adibi are more than capable. We just lose a little pass rush I think without Cushing.

Wasn't the knock on Cushing coming out that he was injury prone?

    Here we go again....

When is a Houston team ever prodominently healthy? Usually the injuries have to come at the worst possible times and to the worst possible players. Can we ever catch a break? JEEZ!

Once again, our complete lack of depth is hurting us. I love the personnel that we have in place, but it seems like we are once again paper-thin.

    :(

"out for a while" I guess that's better than the dreaded "day to day" that they used with andre 2 years ago. I Hope he is okay. What sucks is that he is a rookie those guys need all the reps they can get.

I'm thinking that it may have something to do with how hard these guys are trying to push themselves while competing for a starting spot, especially on D. Most teams have the players that they know, set to their postions with us anyone can be 1st, 2nd, or third string just depends on how hard they work and how much they improve.

I really don't get it either and the thing is for us its not just happening on the football field. :(

Well, this isn't the news that I wanted to start the new NFL season with, not at all.

Zac Diles was our leading tackler last year before he got hurt. Cato June is a former pro-bowler. And Adibi was slotted as the starter at WLB already. How are we lacking depth there? If anything that's a position where we could afford to have an injury.

The clips they ran of Kubiak talking about it on 1560 didn't seem to Doom and Gloom basically said he would miss time but "he would be there" in the long run. I imagine he would miss most of the pre-season but start the season playing at close to 100%. (Fingers Crossed)

Short-term injury. The point is we're not paper thin at linebacker...maybe now that Cushing is out we are, but the point of having depth is to fill in for starters when they go down. Diles and Adibi aren't slouches. And Bentley is pretty capable too if it comes down to that.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. Cushing couldn't stay on the field at USC, what makes you think he's going to be able to do it in the NFL?

^ he needs to get back on that special USC "S&C" program that made him go from he-man to man-boobs back to he-man.

Looks like it's a knee sprain. That's usually 2-6 weeks depending on the severity.

A grade III sprain is complete tearing of the ligament, which would mean that he's done for the year. You can't read much into "sprain,"

Wouldn't they have him on crutches if it seemed that severe? I've never had anything that bad, so I'm not really sure.
