I heard JVG say an interesting comment on 790AM about that his recent dissapointment whith the team is very concerning to him, becasue several players on this ROX team are playing for home court advantage (all the starters) for the first time in their career and they are not responding to the challenge. TMAC, YAO, Alston, Battier, Hayes, Howard, maybe everyone except for Mutumbo has never had comecourt advantage, and several never been to the playoffs before.

This comment made me actually realize how good of a season we are having and maybe things are actually not as bad as we see them, but it also made me worry that some players are not appreciating where they are and they do not have enough of the killer mentality or the preparation to move on to the next level of getting homecourt and ultimately win a championship.

Well, they have YET to get the home court advantage. But I won't say they have given up fighting.......except they have to face with the unpredictable back of Tracy McGrady.

And if you read between the lines of the recent quote of TMAC, he seemed to have given up the hope for chasing the Utah Jazz in the remaining regular season fixtures, and be contented with staying 5th place to play Utah Jazz in Round 1 of the playoff, as he will have to nurse his "stiff" back, and will selectively play the remaining fixtures, when he feels better with his back when he wakes up a certain morning........

And without TMAC on this team, the hope for the Rockets to catch up with Utah Jazz for the home court advantage seems tougher and tougher, slimmer and slimmer.........

Sounds like JVG is saying things to try to get his guys to play hard. He knows the chances of homecourt are remote, and unfortunatly so does the team.

Based upon the GS game it seems the team is resigned to being in the 5th seed.

Got to try to motivate the players somehow......

Truthfully, I think JVG is 100% right here, but my guess is that some players shut it down for a while.....2 different modes of thinking I guess.
