I figured this will get some posts throughout this game (on ESPN2, btw).

Freel just made one of the most AMAZING catches I've ever seen in CF.... with two men on base.

Saved a couple of runs, and the game is scoreless.

    0-0 bottom of the 1st.

    That was a FANTASTIC catch!!!

Cubs scored a run in the 2nd inning and lead 1-0. Top of 3rd starting.

Those two don't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence.

    OK, this isn't looking good.5-0

It's like they are playing in Chicago.

I noticed this during last nights game as well. The crowd was actually cheering for Kerry Wood, and this was after the no hitter was broken up.

I can sorta understand though. Imagine paying big $buck$ for season tickets to the Reds or Pirates only to have the owner cut costs at midseason by trading away the best players on the team? That has got to suck.

ESPN just said something that I was wondering about... the Cubs rotation for the rest of the season.

Since they can't afford to align their pitchers for the post-season, they have to pitch Prior on Saturday... meaning he won't be available till game 3 at the earliest (given that the Cubs make the playoffs over the Astros).

Even worse is they have Wood going on Sunday (which will also likely be a must win).

So, if there's a one game playoff for the division, the Cubs will throw out Carlos Zambrano... who's very good... but if the Cubs make the playoffs outright, they throw out Zambrano and Matt Clement. That's not exactly the VAUNTED 1-2 punch of Prior and Wood (which ESPN, and all media, love).

The ONLY chance the Cubs have to win a short series is Mark Prior pitching 3 out of 5... how could Dusty not anticipate this?

Not looking for the Astros. They cannot for another loss and that still might not be good enough. All I have to say is go Reds Go pirates. Hopefully the stros can atleast get a 1 game playoff.

    Cubs win.

Maybe the fish will lose tonight and tomorrow and we can slip in as the WC.

    Cubs win, Marlins win.

So all the 'Stros manage tonight was staying alive. They are second in both stats that count.

The astros have 4 against the Brewers. They should win them all. If they don't they can only blame themselves for putting the team in this position.

Hey... the Astros SHOULD win out to end the season.

If that happens, and the Cubs are in the playoffs, then that means THEY WON OUT.

Then, you (dreaded cliche) "tip your hat" to them, cause they took care of business.

If you want to point to something, point to that last series at Wrigley where the Stros won the first game, beating Kerry Wood with Wade Miller's gem, but lost the next three in convincing fashion... that gave the Cubs the season series, and represents the differential between the two right now.

Man, just like the damn Bengals, they really need to revamp their team. The Reds are just pathetic....that's why the Cubs walked all over their asses!
