NBA Talk is reporting that Cuban is working on a mega-deal that would bring SAR to Dallas. The article also mentions Gary Payton, Glen Rice, and Washington's #1 pick being part of the 5 team trade. Isn't looking good for our hopes of landing SAR, not like we had alot to offer in the first place.

A deal that large will collapse under its own weight. Its almost impossible to put together a three or four team trade, much less a five teamer involving that many marquee players and picks.

The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.

Who does Dallas give up? Does Cuban send some DVD players to Vancouver for SAR?

unlikely to happen, but geez it would be fun to see a 5 team trade with major players happen.

Part of that trade would involve trading Gary Payton to wherever, so don't take it too seriously.

They didn't explain too much, but let's try to guess who would go where:

    1) Vancouver
    2) Dallas
    3) Seattle
    4) Washington
    5) New York.

*Washington sends Strickland to New York, their first to Seattle.
*New York sends Glen Rice to Seattle.
*Seattle sends Gary Payton to Washington.
    *Vancouver sends SAR to Dallas
*Dallas sends expiring contracts to Vancouver.

This is where it breaks down... why aren't these periphery teams doing their own thing? Who's the biggest contract that's expiring? Strickland has a team opt. Should he go to Van?

Aghghghghg... this trade isn't going to happen. Why would any of these other teams acquire Glen Rice? Why would Seattle give away Payton? For Washington's first (currently #2)? Yeah right. For Bibby and Washington's first? Still bs.

This trade isn't going to happen.

Rice is a 2 guard Lewis a SF, don't see why they can't coexist on the Sonics.

Cuban wants everyone...who really cares anymore. Personally, I used to like Cubans enthusiasm for the game. But now, I think he is already starting to wear on me as well as many others.

SAR stands for Shareef Abdul-Rahim of the Vancouver Grizzlies for the poster who wanted to know what SAR meant.

The Mavs have a lot of talent, and could put together a nice package without disrupting their core (Finley, Dirk, Nash), and with 3 20-point scorers the Mavs would certainly be potent.

But who plays defense on that team, excluding Finley, if they pull in SAR? They should probably concentrate on getting a rebounder/defender/interior player like Antonio Davis, Dale Davis, or PJ Brown.

Wow, it took until the 13th response for people to realize that this has nothing to do with the Rockets. In fact, I'm pretty sure the Rockets haven't even been mentioned in this thread.

    Mango, where are you?

I hate to even suggest this, but (GULP) Sean Bradley is 2nd in the league in blocks per game, at 3.12 per contest. So they do have a presence inside, albeit a gangly one.

Nash is a very good defender as wee, Finley is a good defender, as well as Laettner and Buckner.

Defense is not a problem for the Mavericks this year.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you're okay.

    SAR = Shareef Abdur-Raheem

    And welcome, by the way...

No way does Cuban land SAR. He has no superstar to deal, no cap room to give, and not enough picks to trade in return.

That wouldn't make much sense for Cuban to do that because the team has a lot of potential as it is. Why would he risk ruining things by parting with an important player or destroying chemistry?

Cuban is a legend in his own mind... He's starting to come off like Paul Allen and his quest to buy a championship....or in the case of Dallas..buy a spot in playoffs.
