[cool story bro] One of my favorite comedies and movies of all time is Nacho Libre. Say what you want but the movie is just plain hilarious and to me never gets old. The problem with this movie was that when it was being pressed on HD-DVD and Blu-ray Paramount Studios made the decision to go exclusively HD-DVD at the time. They stopped pressing the Blu-ray completely making the number of Blu-ray copies out there very limited (when compared to what the original production run should have been) When the Blu-ray first came out I did see it at the stores but at the time I did not have a PS3 or a blu-ray player plus the prices for blu-rays were still very high for any release. ($30-40 dollars) Instead I purchased the DVD hoping that the Blu-ray would come down soon. Had I known at the time that it would be that hard to find later on I would have bought the blu-ray right then. So over the past 1.5 years I have been looking for a reasonably priced new copy of this movie (under 30 dollars) sellers on eBay sell it for around 40 or higher...amazon has it for like 58 from its sellers. Other places I have seen ask upwards to 100 dollars for it. I search once a week for it hoping that maybe somewhere something new pops up. I have the movie in a HD format (a m2ts I've downloaded) but I am somewhat of a DVD/blu-ray collector in that if there is a movie I really love I would like to own an actual copy, not have one thats burnt or downloaded. So last week despite searching on amazon several times I was going to buy a used copy (something I hate doing because I dont know the condition in terms of original art work, box, are there any rental stickers that cant be removed) online but after the owner did not return my emails about the condition of the blu-ray I decided to do one last search for the week. Then there it was on amazon...a brand new copy being sold by CE Services Group - a liquidation company - that was being fulfilled by amazon for 20 dollars. A brand new copy no sales tax, no shipping costs (I'm a Prime member) for 20 dollars. It said "Hurry Order soon only 1 left in stock!" I thought I was seeing a glitch but I quickly added it to my cart and paid for it. I tried the search again and kept seeing only 1 left, my browser was probably just caching my old page views but just to be safe I told my friend right away who quickly went online to amazon and said that he didnt see any others available and that I must have gotten the only one up for sale. Still I wasn't completely sold just yet I mean I dont get lucky like that at all but then the next day I got the shipping notification that it had shipped and this morning on my desk waiting for me at work: Brand new, sealed just as described. Couldnt believe I was able to snag a brand new copy for 20 dollars. Yes Monday to me today is a good day, if not a great day a long search is finally over. Tonight I shall be watching this movie in full untouched HD 1080p quality. its stupid but I had to share I am that excited right now My life is good.....real good [/end cool story bro]
I watched it once. Didn't get it. Maybe I should watch it again like I had to with Napoleon Dynamite.
Blu-Rays are the shizneet. When I watch a movie at home, I dont watch it unless it's Blu-Ray. Anything else just ruins the experience.
Yes! Funniest parts of the movie. I thought it was a bit underrated, but I would not call it one of my favorites of all time.
I found it mildly entertaining but my general hatred of Jack Black kept it from being in my collection. I never knew it was such a hard to find disk, congrats Yoyo! This Sunday I picked up a couple of my all time favorite back catalogue title that finally hit bluray. The Rules of a Attraction and Out of Site (only Jennifer Lopez movie I'll ever own)
